Bug Bite Effecting My BS?

So I had a wierd experience. My hand swelled today 2X the size of normal. Upon examination I discovered a teeeny tiny bug bite. My BS is running low. Is it possible for the bite to effect my BS? Since I had the low last week I am not sure if its related to the bite or if something is just off with my sugar lately.

Sounds like you had an allergic reaction to the bite. Take some Benadryl and if you don't see some improvement, go to the doctor. I can't imagine a bug bite affecting your BG, unless it was a highly venomous spider or something, and it doesn't sound like that's the case.

Bug bites and BS

I was getting bit by fleas numerous times. I itched all the time and was about to lose my mind trying to control the fleas. My BS stayed high, for days no matter what I did. Val suggested I feed garlic to the dog and eat it myself (not something I normally do too often). I was the only family member to be bitten so much. Two days in a row, no new bites, the itching has decreased and my BS numbers have been great. THANKS VAL! Don't know if it was the bug bites or the stress, but it definitely kept my numbers high.
BTW, I ate the extra garlic with tomatoes, greenpeppers, cucumbers, and other veggies spritzed with salad dressing...tasted the garlic, but it was still a good salad.

I'm just back from Italy, where the bugs feasted in me. I got one particularly nasty bite on my ankle and very quickly (within hours) may ankle and foot got swollen, a big blister appeared over the bite and then burst (sorry). A friend who was with us is a nurse and when she checked my foot the following morning she felt I was developing cellulitis(sp?), thankfully I had brought an anti-biotic with me and used it when cleared up the infection. At last count I had about 8-9 bites on my legs and 3 on one arm, but my BG numbers were not affected at all. If the swelling does not reduce quickly and numbers stay high, see you doctor. I'd suggest you mark the edges of the swelling with a pen/sharpie so you can monitor it.
