Compression Foot/Legwear

Anyone else use compression footwear/legwear?

I am using Juzo 5800s, recommended by my podiatrist. My calves are discolored, he says because my veins can't get blood back up to my heart. They do make my leg feel better.

I wore compression "hose" after I had my vericose vein stripped from one leg. They pulled the vein out from ankle to groin. Anyway, I found that although they felt good on my legs for the support (which at that time I was heavier), they also put circulation difficulties on my legs at the ankles and knees. What was happening is that they were so tight or elastic that they would dent and whatnot when I bent. I finally had to quit wearing them.

I don't remember the brand so don't know if they are the same, but they were the kind that you cannot see through. Also, they are so compressed that you look at them and wonder how the sam h*ll am I going to get those on my body!!!! LOL

My Mother is getting Jobst Stockings. These were recommended by her cardiologist for venous insufficiency. If you are heavy in the legs, you may need to have these custom made to avoid inability to get the on.

When you are walking your muscles in your legs squeeze your veins to push the fluid and blood back towards your heart. Long bouts of sitting or standing can cause the fluid to pool in your veins and cause swelling and discoloration.

Talk to your doctor about building the muscles up in your legs. Bad veins in your legs can be indicative of bad veins in your heart. See a cardiologist and he may change your blood pressure medication or start you on lasix or another diuretic to reduce the fluid retention in your body.

I'm a heavy person with strong legs, but I was able to get the stockings on fairly easily. My legs are the most muscular part of my body. I'm not on high blood pressure meds because I don't have high blood pressure - earlier this week I was 129/77.
