Multivitamins and BS

I'm considering taking Centrum soon and was wondering if it could cause my bs to go up? Anyone have any info on this or a better multi suggestion? My #'s are coming down well and I don't want to spoil it with something as simple as a vitamin. I've heard that people don't need vitamins if they eat balanced meals.

Balanced? What do you mean by balanced? Are you able to eat that version of a "balanced" diet, anyway? Don't worry too much if the general way of eating that you arrive at being healthy for you is not what some of the rest of the world calls "balanced." Eat what is healthy for YOU.

I do take exactly that vitamin brand, except that I have recently changed to one of their formulae with without iron, as I do not need that much iron anymore.

I also take separately thiamine (B-1) and biotin (another B vit?). Many type 2s take a combo pill of various B vitamins.

Don't forget that also in Centrum and other brand name "vitamin tablets" are an assortment of minerals. Many are also including a tiny amount of phyto chemicals which may be helpful.

I think my Centrum has no discernable immediate effect on my BG. The general recommendation at my doctor's office is that all Type 2's take a multivitamin. I presume there are some people who for one reason or another are not given that recommendation.

My endo has recommended I take a multivitamin and I haven't noticed any effect on my BG readings. I take extra vitamin D, but other than that, I take a kiddie chewable vitamin. Dr. H. said he's had good luck recommending them. Three kiddie vitamins are equal to one adult vitamin, and they're usually a little sweet, and not like taking ANOTHER pill. He also said he feels the absorption rate might be a bit better with three smaller doses per day. He said adults are certainly more likely to take them, rather than face swallowing another horse pill every day. The psychology certainly works where I'm concerned! LOLOL.

I day the "One-A-Day" for women, along with fish oil tablets, chromium and a vitamin B supplement. I've done this since diagnosis, and can't tell any problems with blood sugar.
