Experiencing Stomach Pain. Need Feedback

I began experiencing stomach pain yesterday. I took my Lantus shot in the a.m. like I always do - that was about 8:30 a.m. Around noon I developed stomach pain and began to feel bad all over. The pain eventually moved around to my back.
I went to bed early and took two ibuprophen for the pain.
My torso was very hot to the touch.
Long story short, do any of you ever experience stomach pain?
BTW, when I got up this a.m. my bg was 249.
I took my shot and a Glipizide. Was really shocked to see my bg so high on waking.
I'm just a bit confused about all of this.

Caroline,

I have no experience with Lantus but would suggest you give your Doctor a call. How long have you been taking Lantus, could it be an alergic reaction to it or something you ate?

Do you still have your gallbladder? Sometimes GB pain will start in the stomach and move to the mid right back (near the shoulder blades).

You could also have caught a stomach virus. Anytime i'm ill, my blood sugars are higher. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks for the feedback.
Princess, I do still have my gall bladder and so far have never had a problem.
Hopefully you are right and a virus is passing through. My symptoms are still just pain and an all over general malaise.
I sure it will pass.
BTW Princess, I have been taking Lantua since July and I don't think that is the problem.
Again, thanks for the response.

I agree, Could very well be gallbladder pain. I remember all too well when I had that pain. Did you happen to eat a high fat meal before the onset of the pain? If your gallbladder is going bad that is what usually triggers an attack. You may want to call your doctor.

Caroline - the radiating pain is one of the typical symptoms of an swollen gallbladder or an unhappy pancreas.

If it's the gallbladder, you typically will just feel pain and uneasiness, but eating or drinking won't necessarily exacerbate it.

If it's pancreatitis, any foor or drink you consume will usually make you nauseous and may aggravate the pain.

The best thing you can do is go see the doctor - doesn't need a specialist, just your regular doc is enough. An ultrasound and some simple bloodwork (alaylase & lipase) will at least rule out if not detect either of these two problems!
