Good news!

I thought I'd share some good news. My glucose levels are coming down. Here is a record that I have kept. It was 442 when I went to the hospital on the 17th. I am taking shots during the day, and lantus at night, as well as 2 doses of 500mg of metformin per day.

It seems that my doctors/nurses were very agressive in treatment. I see a lot of people who are new, and who are not getting shots. Shots, I think, are great. People I know have been saying, "I could never give myself shots." (done in my best whiny voice) You know, one does what they must, when they must. Anyhoo, thought I'd share maybe some other newbs like me can find some encouragement in it. best - Ted

Congratulations Ted! Your numbers are looking much better. I bet you are feeling better also.

I remember before diagnoses, watching a television show about a woman athlete with diabetes. I couldn't believe what she had to do just to participate in her sport. There was constant testing and shots and I really felt like I could never live like that. Well, I guess I can. I never thought it would be me in a few years. (Not that I am an athlete)

You are right. You do what you have to do to live a long and healthy life.

Congratulations on your improved numbers.

terminator,

I hope you are proud of your efforts to get your bg under control. They are coming down gradually which is a good thing. I have also heard people say, "Ewww, I could never give myself shots." Well.....if you want to live and be healthier, then you do what you have to do. Keep up the good work.

Great Work!!!

Something I find interesting and I truly believe was God preparing me (He works in mysterious ways, folks!) for diabetes and giving myself shots was when I was a child I never minded shots. In fact, when I went to the doctor as a kid I would ask if I was going to get a shot, hoping I was. Weird, huh?

Kids are so resiliant and curious. I think that is a great story IHD111. I never minded shots (after the first one). Kids just take things much more in stride than adults.
