Severe Periphereal Neuropathy Pain Medication

I currently take neurontin 900 mg and it is not working.

I also have tried lyrica, cymbalta and amitriptyline as well none worked. I have been able to tolerate neurontin as far as the drowsiness however the pain is still horrible.

Do any of you take additional pain medication ie., loratab, tramadol etc..

Doctor is reluctant to prescribe due to high rate of addiction
any suggestions???

Thanks

I also take a pain medicine with mine. If I didn't I wouldn't be able to handle the pain. The Doc put me on lexapro and percocet. I know there can be an addition issue, but I dont take it to be high. I take it because of the terrible pain.

I was prescribed relafin at the same time I started the neurontin (gabopentin). The relafin was for throbbing pain in my ankle from a break a year ago, but I think it helped with the pain from the neuropathy as well. I don't think it is as addictive as other pain meds, although you have to be careful about taking it too long because of liver damage (according to the pharmacy sheet I got). The doctor didn't seem too concerned about long-term use, though, so maybe that would help with the inflamed feeling.

EMG results showed polyneuropathy I am confused some many types of neuropathies.. Doctor could not tell me when or if the nerves would improve. Just neurontin and amytripiline for medication with pain reliever...because of my kidney disease I have to be careful on the pain medication ...
