Dr says Glucose intolarant?

Ok got my results from the GTT. Doctor called said she wanted me to test myself for a month and to watch my diet and then we will talk about options. Does this mean I am not diabetic yet? You know how it is talking on the phone to the nurse you dont get a lot of info. It couldnt be too bad yet if they want to wait and see me in a month.

The sensible thing would be to ask the doctor what the results are that makes them want to watch your readings

I would try to get more info, but typically it means you are more than likely Type 2, My doctor gave me a month to get my act togeather, within that month I lost 10 lbs. Got my blood sugar under control. Requiring no meds.

3 years later still no meds a a1c of 5.4, a touch of hypertension that we can't account for so some meds for that. But as far as Diabetes go, I show no signs what so ever.

Without the actual numbers, there's no real way of knowing.

You may be pre-diabetic based on your numbers, which is what you are hoping for so you can take preventative measures.

Or you may be one of those that is T2, but your numbers are just over the threshold.

Here are my numbers from my Glucose test. 108 fasting 166 1 hr after drinking glucose 132 2 hrs and 112 3 hrs. I hate it that I do not go to the doc for another month. She wants me to track my readings until then and then she said we could discuss my options. I know I have got to excersize and try and lose weight but what I dont know is what foods to avoid or what to watch out for.

I'm not a doctor so you need to get the direct answer from him/her.

There are more experienced people than myself here that could help you better, but your doc is probably suspecting that you might be prediabetic. The numbers aren't bad, but a little bit higher than normal.

If you keep going the way you have been going, you will eventually become Type 2 basically.

The good news is there's a ton you can do about it. Read alot here. Many people have been successful with going low carb (myself included), but it's not easy. Cut out the breads, potatoes, pastas, rices. My meals are primarily meats, most veggies, eggs, etc.... basically proteins and fats.

So you know you need to exercise. so have you started? You already know that you need to. After you have been exercising, you can start on your diet. Reading lots of old threads here will give you more information than responses. you will learn more and have a better understanding. And an active person will respond better than a sedentary person.
