| | | Woo...woo...new & better A1C - T2 3/28/08
Total Cholesterol 235
LDL 120
HDL 47
Triglycerides 338
A1C 9.9
11/14/08
Total Cholesterol 178
LDL 91
HDL 50
Triglycerides 185 A1C 6.7
Of course that's after loosing 10 pounds and being on 1000mg of metformin twice a day...and watching what I eat...cutting out all sugar (and cuting way back on artificial sweetners too - no desserts and less snacks and more healthy food), and trying to stick to a low-salt, low-fat, low cholesterol mostly vegetarian style eating regimen...funny thing, when you cut out the sugar everything else starts tasting better and your appetite decreases...time to loose more weight and get to doing some exercise...

| | | Those are great numbers!!!
The Triglycerides are alway the tough one for me; mine are also usually in the 300 range. Since I've been eating low carb, I'm hoping that this next go around they will be somewhat lower.

| | Great stuff. Now all you have to do is keep the butter in the fridge and use olive oil. Other than that great A1C. |

Why did you cut out the sweetners?
I hope to have some good news in a few days.

I hope to have some good news in a few days. | Because all artificial sweetners do is make you crave more sweets...once you loose your taste for sweeteners (other than naturally sweet things like real fruit) anything made with sugar and/or artificial sweeteners all end up tasting like garbage...you can get all the sweetness you need out of natural foods as the human body was not intended to ingest white refined sugar, coal-tar derivatives (saccarin), chlorinated sugar (splenda) and excess amino acids (aspartame)...need a little sweetner? Try cane juice and evaporated cane juice...it's natural, doesn't spike your blood sugar like it's white refined cousin, and it still has the vitamins and minerals in it that they strip out when they refine it...if you want a good read on this subject try SUGAR BLUES by William Dufty...
