| | A little help here I have eaten a particular thing many times over and after 2 hours my sugar was about 110-136 every time. Today for some reason I ate the same thing in the same ammount and after 1 hour i felt funny so I tested my sugar and it was 180 ! hour later (2 hours after I ate) I felt even worse tested it and it was 214! less then 1 hour after that it was 94.
Is this normal. I have never had that happen before. This morning I had cereal and after 2 hours it was 140 i went for an 8 min walk and 10 min after that walk it was 78. And stayed there for 4 hours until the above mentioned incident.
Glucophage 500mg once a day

| | | The only consistent thing about diabetes is that it's inconsistent.
It could be that you went a little lower than the 70s & your liver dumped glucose into your bloodstream before the food you ate had a chance to have an effect on your blood sugar, or it could have been one of a hundred other variables. |

| | | Sometimes you will find a reason for things but there are times when it will remain a mystery. Perhaps a little more information might help us work it out with you. First of all can I ask, I assume we are talking about two separate meals, the whatever you often eat and then the cereal, right? What was it that you normally eat and is okay? What were your numbers before? Did you eat it at the time you normally eat it? If it was dinner did you have the same lunch as you normally have? Have you exercised/not exercised as normal beforehand? Have you been ill, do you feel you might be getting a cold?
There really are so many factors to consider, that you should not write off this meal because of one weird result. Sometimes you can only blame the Aliens/moon/stars and move on.
Don't let it bug/stress you, it's really not worth it. This happened to me last week, my wife makes a dinner that must be one of the most BG neutral meal, in fact sometimes 2 hours pp I'm lower than before the meal. Last week I got a spike to 144 two hours PP. I'll try it again this week though.

| | | This disease is indeed "inconsistent" and frustrating... seems like the pancreas has good days and bad days, irrespective of meds taken, exercise... One bad day isn't the end all... now many bad days.... that is something to pay attention to. |

Sometimes, I realize that it's not what I ate but my stress level. If I still don't know, I no longer lose sleep over it, although I'm more vigilant for the next few days regarding any trend. If there is no trend of high BG, I know it was just a bad pancreas day. |

| | | Yep. Moon, stars, aliens, tide changes, you name it. And as Caravaggio mentioned, for me, if something I normally tolerate well shoots me high, it's stress, 9 times out of 10. Ohhhhh that stress. It will shoot you in the butt every time. LOL.

| | | Some of the high probability items I'd watch out for are
- stress
- sickness or infection
- inactivity
- seasonal changes
- progression
Up your testing for a bit. If it's a one time thing, chalk it up to gypsies or old ladies swinging chickens over their heads. If it continues, continue troubleshooting. If it continues for a month, call your doc. |

| | | Excercise. At what point is excercise not recomended. I hear that its if your sugar is above 200 but right now im looking at a lilly magazine and it states 300.
I guess it was one of those days. Today it never made it over 125 all day. |

Good news about your numbers today, it must have been the aliens. Remember diabetes is consistently inconsistent.
