My "lows" (if they can be called 'low' at all) were in the 3.9 to 4.1 mmol/L (70 to 74 mg/dL) range and have always occured prior to lunch when lunch got postponed by more than an hour on account of some work that involved physical activity (like shopping with my wife, gardening, shovelling snow, etc.)

| | | One time I hit a low of 1 (approx 18), not even sure how I did not pass out. But a quick tsp in water solved it and away I went. Boy I felt funny through, it was a day when I was wrestling with low blood sugar all day. Not sure how that happened 0r what triggered it. |

| | | The reason I asked was I hit 45 right after the OGT and felt like I was going to pass out. Somebody made the comment that that is awfully low for non-Type 1, especially given that I am on no medication.
That was the most awful experience and I was out of glucose tabs. Thank God I was on my way to Panera. I asked them to make my drink quickly and they did. I had to call my dad to pick me up because I did not feel safe to drive at that point. What was weird is that I only went up to 162 according to them (185 on my meter) and I've never dropped that low before. Today I hit 235 and did not have a reactive low.
Sometimes this thing is so frustrating.

| | | I'm not even a diabetic, but just yesterday morning I was 225 after my coffee had a protein shake to try to level it out and started mopping, hadn't been even 10 minutes of mopping and I started to shake and get that otherworldly feeling and checked my bg and it was 48. I ate an apple and some cheese, and waited for the shaking and stuff to stop, felt horrible the rest of the day, but it happens often. Don't know what to do. Mindy |

| | | My lowest was 65 on Thanksgiving - took two regular insulin shots too close together and didn't calculate the second one for the "insulin on board".
I take Lantus, Novolin R and Novolog.

| | | Yes, at least my Dr. hasn't said I was, my A1c was 6.1. Discussed that in another thread.I'm still trying to figure out how to keep my bg level. I have highs after eating, and drop like a rock if it goes too high too fast and do anything.(physical)I also had a 95 fasting BG, so I still don't know whats wrong. My BG is generally all over the place, nothing steady, that would be too easy. | | | My lowest reading was 1.9 (34.2). I take only metformin.
It was caused by the mixture of bagels and coffee. When I mix these two together I always get a bad case of reactive hypoglycemia.

It's not that I don't love Type 1's (you know I do), but it seems that reactive lows are different from insulin reactions. | What is the difference between reactive lows and insulin reactions?

| | | 1.9 for me too. Middle of then night. I took OJ and candies.
Due to over-correction (bolus) after dinner.
After a year and a half of bolusing I still don't have a handle on my I:C ratio. Half the time I am right with 1:4 and other times I overestimate what I need.
