Talking Still a newbie at this

I have learned SO much the past few days from the forums. You guys are awesome! I learned that I should wear a medical alert bracelet - didn't have a clue about Metformin and MRIs, etc - so I just ordered one. I think I figured out how to add my stats to my signature. If they don't show up, I'll know I need to work on that. Now, for my first question.....in your experience, can alopecia be linked to diabetes? I am seeing a dermatologist, but this is an entirely new ailment that I didn't have prior to diagnosis.

Welcome to the forums! I had noticed thinning of my hair just before diagnosis, chalked it up to stress. However, once my blood sugars stabilized, the hair density improved.

There are many things that can contribute for hair loss: stress, anemia, crash dieting, thyroid issues, anesthesia, heredity and insulin resistance. Your doctor/dermatologist could do some blood tests to r/o some of these underlying conditions...and there are treatments to help.
