| | | How did you feel when you first started Metformin I am feeling not so good. It's not even a month I've started Metformin and I have shortness of breath and tremendous weakness and dizziness too when I use it. I was off of it for 2 days, I felt sooo better but then the bg levels went up. Do I need to talk to the doc immedietely about this? I just want to know if everybody feels like this in the beginning and it settles down gradually or didn't you get any sort of symptoms at all? Please let me know. |

| | Yeah, talk to your doc, ASAP. My main problems with Met were gastrointestinal. We call them "Metfartin and the Gluco-poops" (since Glucophage is one name for Met). They disappeared after about 2 weeks, and I've been fine since.
So get on the horn to your doc.

| | | I have not had any problems on Metformin. I would contact your doctor. Your medicine is not supposed to make you that sick. Best of luck to you. |

Lol, that made me laugh!!
I had the gastric distress for several MONTHS when I first started taking metformin.
Keep in mind that I've been on it for over 10 years now.

lmao, how funny, thats how i felt too
i was already feeling pretty nauseous before starting metformin due to my bs being high, although certain smells really made me wanna barf. Took a while to go away, i still get the poops every once in a while, related to stress or certain greasy, sugary meals i eat. colon cleansing is what i call it

| | | LOL!! Don't know how to find out if it's the metformin that's actually doing all this to me. I feel very sleepy throughout the day too. |

Talk to your Doctor, perhaps the ER (extended release) version would be better, but also bear in mind that if your numbers are running high that this can cause fatigue/lethargy.
