feeling cold

Hi all. Right now its 68 in the house, I have on long underwear and jeans, a t-shirt, long sleeve denim shirt, a sweater and a sweatshirt and I am cold.

I was DX about 3 1/2 weeks ago with a fasting of 300, right now for the past 2 weeks I am averaging around 123, which I think is making good headway. My weight went from 150 to 145 so I didn't have a weight problem before, and I wasn't really cold before the DX, except when being outside in our cold New Hampshire winters without gloves on, then my hands got cold as would be expected.

Can the drop make me almost always feel cold?

Thanks to all, David

Is it possible that you might have low thyroid levels? Maybe you need to mention it to your doctor. Being intolerant of the cold is just one symptom of being hypothyroid. Best wishes to you. It isn't much fun being cold.

David,

I did find when I got my levels down that I felt the cold more but for me that shivery/cold feeling indicates that I am low. Coming down from high readings to 120's/100's etc can give you the feeling of a low while your body gets used to the lower ("Normal") levels.

I do find that since DX, I feel the cold more in my hands and feet, something that is totally alien to me as I never felt the cold before.

Have you changed what you eat?

It is my understanding that if we have excess energy the body will speed up its metabolism -- the rate at which cells burn energy. This causes extra heat which explains -- for me at least -- how I could previously have been walking around in short sleeves while many other people were wearing jackets.

Now that I have drastically reduced the amount of carbs I eat, I am much more aware of the temperature and I'm dressing up with sweaters etc... quite a novel experience for me to feel cold.

Thanks for all the replys. Now when we go to Florida in the summers for vacation, I won't be so darn hot all the time!

Best to all, David
