Talking newbie to site

First time doing this. Read about the lick and had to respond. I too prick and lick, not in public. Often wondered if others did it. My 7 year old granddaughter (lives with us) teases that I'm a vampire! My 12 year old step-grandson is very interested because a friend at school has diabetes and he thought that 12 was awfully young. He now knows that it can happen a lot younger than that.

Welcome Bonnie! Glad you found the forums. I stick, but don't lick! No vampire leanings here!

Tell us a litte about yourself and how you manage your diabetes.

Welcome Bonnie. Yes, I am the culprit that started the thread regarding licking. I figured I would be ousted and banned for being so gross; turns out there are a lot of us.

This is a terrific group with an incredible wealth of knowledge.

Welcome to DF!

Hi Bonnie! Welcome to Diabetes Forums. I usually don't lick either and definitely not in public. Why does this sound bad?

I consider it to be efficient recycling of hemoglobin! (jk; physiologically I am sure it does not maintain high iron stores).

Hi, Bonnie - welcome from Texas. I'm a member of the don't lick, but I'm okay if you do club. You have found a great place for support and information (and yes, entertainment if you have a tilted sense of humor)! Tell us more about yourself.

Hi Bonnie! Hello good evening and welcome, do forgive my ignorance, can't say I'm familiar with your prick and lick method, can you elaborate more? what's the significance in controlling diabetes, seems a little barbaric I'd say.

Many people will try to tell you what you can’t eat with diabetes.
Most will be well-meaning.
Rather than compounding the problem by telling you what you should
eat, I’d recommend a simpler method, eat by your meter.
