Angry PCP-to much!

At my Appointment Monday,a PA Student came in and documented why I was there and checked my BP.One of the things I mentioned was B12.She left the room and discussed her notes with my PCP..When he came in (with her),he told me a B12 was ordered at my last Appointment April 1.NO it was NOT!When I go in every 3 Month's,I always get a copy of the Labs for my personal file at Home. There wasn't a B12 on the Labs!He made fun of the Internist I scheduled an Appointment with..I don't know where the Internist is from, but he has a Foreign sounding name..when he told me the Doctor will do what he is currently doing,he *tried* speaking with a Foreign accent. What an A$$!

I swear the Man deems me as no use and a waste of time..I have tried getting a Referral for an RD to no avail-of course!I spoke with an acquaintance who had a Baby last Year.My PCP was her OB/GYN.She was leaking Fluid..he told her she was wetting herself (without checking her)..the Baby was born in her 6 Month of Pregnancy! This is the negligent/no care attitude the Man has!

Sorry, Irish, I haven't been able to read the forum as much as I'd like lately, and so am unfamiliar with your doctor dealings. My question is can you possibly find another. I would never stand for a doctor, who is in my employ, treating me that way--not to mention his appalling behavior with the phony accent.

OM, I join your boat. Mine called (why I do not know) and said I need a physical. We went in the office yesterday for DH.

I brought with a medical consult form from my dentist. Her staff fought with me and called me a liar over the physical when I did have one. They said they would fill out the form and fax it to the dentist.

Then the topic of Joslin came up. Joslin had sent a nutrionist referral. The NP was to call me.

DH finished his appointment and we went downstairs to lab for his tests. I sat outside with DS when the lab called out my name. I was asked to go back upstairs.

I went back upstairs and the crude nurse was there. She said that I did have a physical. She handed me the form for the dentist filled out and went on about Joslin. How the office has the best care, I can see an endo, I can see more specialized staff. I pointed out to her that I want the best care possible. She became mad. Now, they are contacting my insurance company. Why are they contacting my insurance company?

I read what they wrote for my dentist "No advisement on antithesia. Not our concern".

I was dumbfounded. This is about Joslin and they money they'd lose. Unacceptable.

I also get upset when a doctor or nurse acts superior. No one knows my body better than me. I wish they would listen to me. When I go into their office I am their employer. It does not matter that my insurance company pays part of the bill. I am a customer and I have the right to demand respect. That includes listening to me and responding in a polite manner. If he/she cannot do that then they do not deserve my continued support of their over priced office.

When I read things like this, I realize how lucky I am. My doctor is so easy to talk to and treats me with respect. I have had doctors in the past who treated me like I was an idiot....once went to a doctor in such pain, I cried when he touched the hurt area....he said something like, "When we get this fixed, we will see what we can do about these crying jags." I seldom cry about anything, in the first place, and after several years of seeing him, he should have known. That was the reason I moved to my current doctor, so maybe it was a blessing. I know things are different where you are, but find a way to get another doctor.

It's been several years since I needed to find a new doc, but when I DO need a new one, he gets screened and he knows it. I make no bones about what I expect. Maybe it helps to be an old granny grizzly, y'think?

When I was a young mother with two children, my well-recommended OB suggested a permanent method of birth control, saying "you don't need any more children". I was prob'ly about 25 years old, but I looked at that old man and decided right then and there that I was no longer his patient. When I began "interviewing" for another OB, I told them exactly why I had left the previous one, and what I expected of them. They may diagnose and they may advise, but whatever other things they think about me, they can keep to themselves. My husband and I will decide whether we need more children or not.

The doc we have now couldn't be better. Several years ago when I presented with a very painful & severely stiff neck, his first instinct was meningitis. Once he had whisked me to ER and then settled me in an isolation room, he called in a neurologist. About the first thing the neurologist did was call in an orthopedic surgeon. My PCP stepped up and fired the ortho . . . saying "that one is not treating any of MY patients." He made me an appointment with a neurosurgeon who was more than helpful - and not at all ready to start cutting. The diagnosis was degenerative disc disease, and for the last ten years I be careful to support those little cervical discs, and we get along just fine.

So don't be bashful. We are their patients, not doormats.

Fire that person and report him to the state medical board. He obviously has no moral or ethical code of conduct and should be brought up for an immediate peer review.

I always tell myself, doctors are just ordinary people that have more education than I do.

When we go to the doctor (either my wife or myself) I am well aware of her condition and usually drive the doc crazy with questions. The worst is when you are there for a reason and say everything looks OK. Like something magical is going to happen when you pay your bill on the way out.

My brothers son (2yrs old then) had deviated Tally waker. His PCP sent him to a specialist 4 hr ride away. He waited in the waiting room for an additional 2 hrs. The doctor examined my brothers son's Tally waker, looked up and said "you best teach him to aim well" nuff said

Vicki,
It will be difficult finding another PCP who will Prescribe Xanax. In the local Daily Newspaper Day before Yesterday there was an Article about an LPN that worked for a Doctor in the Clinic with my Physician. She was charged with 21 counts of writing herself, her Husband and Brother Pain Prescriptions using the name of the Physician she worked for. This is why People who do not abuse/misuse Medications can't find Doctor's or get Medications they need. His impersonation of the Internist who specializes in Diabetes and complete Diabetes care was as you said appalling. He may of found it a joke, but Health is NEVER a laughing matter.

Art,
To answer your question.Years ago when he was practicing at another Clinic that has since closed,I had to see a Physician (no PCP at the time),and he was the only Physician open to schedule an Appointment. He treated me with respect, courtesy and kindness.Last Summer,I was searching for a PCP and thinking he was best because of what I received before,I chose him..he was kind at my July and October 2008 Appointments, but April and June 2009-NO kindness AT ALL!
