So far so good, haven't had a chance to visit the Barbie again. I have found that speeding up my digestion process has lowered the intensity and the duration of my BG spikes. I have gone to 145 in an hour but started to decrease in 1.5 hrs and was back to less than 120 in 2 hrs while eating a very carby meal. Learned to stay away from carbs if I am not hungry, thats the key for me. If I am not hungry I know my digestion has slowed down and the intensity and duration will go up.

An Update of Sorts

The Ginger root, Dandelion, Cayenne Fruit, and the addition of 20,000 IU of Vit D3, along with 2 Tbs of Benefiber and 1500 mg of Mg-Oxide/ 1500mg of Calcium has definitley speeded up my digestion. Lets not for get the Flax Seed Bars, (how they working for you Granny Shanny). Haven't had them as cold cereal yet but sounds good.

I am not counting carbs, I simply avoid eating anything that I would suspect to have high carbs. I have been sticking to whole grains, Veggies, meat. and the occasional treat of deep fried shrimp stuffed with crab meat served with tangy orange sauce. Fried fish, fried chicken.

My BG has not been over 135 in two weeks. I hoover around 100 most of the time. FBG in the morning is between 80-105 depending on what I have eaten the night before and when I decide to stick my finger in the morning. We just got done moving into our new house, moved all week, lost 5 lbs and BG was around 80, basically from all of the exercise.

Still the key seems to be if I am not hungry, do not eat any carbs, they tend to sit in my stomach to long and wreek havoc on your BS numbers. I have been able to eat cookies again, Vortman Flax seed and Cranberry cookies. 4.5 cookies only went to 110. I am loving it. Just need to get my wifes BG under control now. FBG this morning at 122, she thinks shes OK.

Great to see you back, MCS!

The flax bars are wonderful, and make the BEST cereal! That's how I'm eating them most of the time now. If I'd been smart, I'd never have given DH a taste, but like a dummy I did, and now he's hooked too . . . (he wasn't impressed with them eaten as a bar, but with cream & sweetener . . . woohoo!)

Progress Continues

Dinner last evening consisted of 1/2 lb spicey chicken wings, 1/2 pound of potatoe wedges and a garden salad with Blue Cheese dressing. Dessert 4 Vortman Flax Seed Cookies (man I like those cookies)

Initial BG: 88
1 hr PP: 138
2 hr PP: 107

I am liking it, if I can get past this Atrial Fibrillation I think I can be almost back to normal.

I was thinking that I am type 11 but really want to get my
A1C into the 5 range (am now 6.1) so 2.5 or 2/5 would be a shortcut abbreviation to state my goal. Guess I am thinking too much!

Try and get off the Rx's

Everything going fine. Had dinner, Philly Steak Sandwich with a large Greek Salad. Of course I took the top bun off. Later had a small bag of potato chips that came with it. BG never went over 135.

So with this in mind, I am going to try and get off the Rx's soon. I will still take the Herbals. But the BP med Benazepril is killing me, Fatigue, muscle cramps, sore everywhere all the time. The Metformin is going bye bye as well.

I am 6'1" weighed 280lbs 5 years ago, and if you ever have watched a strong man competition that was me. Now I am 235lb and can't lift anything with out something hurting. I got folds of skin where my butt muscles use to be.

If interested here is what I will be taking:

Gymnema Sylvestre, Biotin, Chromium, along with fish oil 6000mg, Ginger Root, Cayenne Fruit, 20,000 iu Vit D3 periodically. Also Benefiber 2 TBS morning and night, 1500mg of Calcium and Magnesium/day. L-Arginine, Alpha-Lipoic-Acid, CO-Q10, Hawthorne, Zinc, Kelp.

Wish me luck

To carry on some more, the main reason I am stopping the meds. My wife wants her old Marty back.

The one that waited for her to bend over in the closet then, pulled her pants down and you know.... The one who convinced her to lay on the beach in Destin Fl at night naked under a sheet with a full moon. The Marty who figured out that honey was for cereal nothing else. The Marty that was able have fun at any time of the day or night. The Marty that could have fun all night, get up eat breakfast and have some more fun. My wife misses me, thats why I am getting off the meds.

Sorry to ramble on here.

I've been following your thread, and really enjoyed it. Please be careful, though, MCS. Keep a close watch when you're off meds. As you know, high BP is nothing to fool around with; nor is an elevated BG. Your wife would miss you even more if you weren't here--just be careful.

Really interesting thread. In the beginning I was going to suggest recreating the pork barbeque only then test, but now my head is swimming with all the twists and turns...and then it happened, these words appeared on the screen:

"deep fried shrimp stuffed with crab meat served with tangy orange sauce".

Now I can't think of anything else, the **** with the experimenting, the heck with the cinnamon...and I'm going to be of absoutely no help to you...but, please can I have the recipe??

How is your BP on the meds (if you don't mind telling)?

First day off the MEDs

"deep fried shrimp stuffed with crab meat served with tangy orange sauce".

Found those at a local Greek Resturant, they are to die for, I'll tell you.

BP last night at a full relaxation was 105/60 56 bpm. Any lower and someone would have to stick a fork in me to see if I was alive. When it gets that low I am done for the night. Nothing wants to perk up, I mean nothing.

This AM, 130/75 56 bpm.

Three months ago I was at 220/120 70 bpm, long way from there now

Last night dinner, GOLDEN CORRAL, Way more than I needed to eat. Steak, Fried fish, baked fish with peppers, Veggies and to beat all I convinced myself to eat a dessert. Baked Apples with biscuit dough and Cinnamom BG initial 105, 1 hr 135, 1.5 hr (was nervous about the desert) 117, 2 hr to be sure 90, 90 go figure that one out.

Today is the first day off the meds, see what happens.
