I have been taking Glipizide with metformin for the past 2 days, I have a severe diahria since I started Glipizide. Is it common? or should I stop taking Glipizide?

Thanks.

So you were taking metformin before starting the glipizide & suffered no side effects?

I've never used glipizide, but metformin definitely caused diarrhea for me the first few days.

Lower your Metformin dosage.
It's OK to cut in half, I do it.

In general Glip doesn't have those side effects.
Also, don't drink milk before your meds & reduce splenda
or other sweeteners, it isn't the Glipizide, look at other factors.

Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for your response. I guess it could be because of milk (Morning cereal) before my medication.

Thanks.

I had the same kind of problem for months on Metformin and then all of a sudden it is not a problem. Guess my body just needed to adjust.

So I read that one side effect of metformin could be Alzeheimmers

Does Glucophage Make Alzheimer's Worse?. In the Pipeline:

" In cell culture, metformin seems to increase the amount of beta-amyloid generated by neurons. If you buy into the beta-amyloid hypothesis of Alzheimer’s, that’s very bad news indeed"

Wait a sec.. what were we talking about agian..opps wrong end.. must be the AD kicking in
