Metformin XR in Canada?

I see that at least one Canadian has been prescribed Metformin XR. When I mentioned it to my doctor at diagnosis she had never heard of it so I figured that it must not be available here. Anyway I am currently on 500 mg met (regular type) and am taking them (3/day) at meals. I was prescribed 2/day for the first week and suppose to go to 4/day after that but I can barely stomach (nausea etc) the 3/day so I cannot see doing 2 in the morning and 2 at night. My numbers have gone down pretty quickly and I am eating well and exercising but I know that when I see my doctor in 10 days for my first check-in since diagnosis that we will be discussing the metformin. If you in Canada know the whole name (on the bottle) of the metformin XR would you please let me know it so I can tell her about it? Many thanks!

Thank you Frank! It was actually your post of few days ago that made me think that maybe it was available here afterall. So it is actually called Glumetza but it is the extended release Metformin...I will tell my doctor. I still have an awful lot of Ratio-Metformin to get through so I will likely slog through them awhile a longer but if I am to renew the pills I will go for the Glumetza.
