Glossary of Diabetic Terms & Abbreviations used here?

Just a thought, I am very new to diabetes, one thing I have found in reading this (fantastic) forum is much of the time, I have to pause while reading a post (or even a signature), leave the site and go find out what a diabetic related term means. It becomes more difficult when I read an abbreviation.

Would you consider, for the sake of newcomers a thread of terms and abbreviations to help get folks up to speed?

Any thoughts?

Be well and happy!

A comfortably numb,
Dougster

We understand what you mean when you say you have brain overload, Dougster. I've been diagnosed type 2 since March,09 and I came from the medical field. My head still swirls at all the info to learn and relearn and hopefully retain. the diabetic patient needs to be the best informed patient there is as you control so much of what happens to you. Keep sharing with us, we learn from everyone. Happy trails.

I sometimes use my windows calculator for this too.

Wait till you get into insulin and have to bolus for your food and corrections WITHOUT your pump wizard enabled. My goal for 2010 is to come up with insulin ratios for not only carbs but for protein and incretin (mass) as well. I may have to get a calculator!

I was just wondering if imac's meter was stuck using the wrong units... IIRC each one I have had is able to switch between mg/dl and mmol/l
