Free Accu Check Compact Plus Meter

I am currently using a True Trak meter that I really don't care for. The only reason I got it is was that my pharmacist told me that they were offering a free meter and free test strips for a year. That was hard to pass up, but now the year is up and I have been researching the different meters. I noticed on one of the threads that the Compact Plus Meter was very well liked. It comes with a drum instead of individual test strips, so I thought that might be nice to try. Anyway..... I called Accu Check and they are going to send me a free meter! I think they will send any meter you request. The number to call is 800-858-8072. Just thought I'd pass this on!

Great choice on your meter, been using one for 4 years now, I've had no complaints, in fact I've got 3 of them, one in my office desk, one I always travel around with, and one at home as my back up meter.

However! I do not think they will send you any meter, only just their brand "Accu Check", yes, all mind came free, but they don't give two hoots about the freebies knowing full well, the test strips will cost you a bundle, ££££$$$$$. that's where the money is made.

Any way, thanks for sharing this information, hope you enjoy your new "Accu Check" meter, as much as I do, when it arrives.

Many people will try to tell you what you can’t eat with diabetes.
Most will be well-meaning.
Rather than compounding the problem by telling you what you should
eat, I’d recommend a simpler method, eat by your meter.

Hi Buddy!
When I spoke to the rep on the phone, I specifically asked for the compact plus and she stated she would send me that specific one. I sure hope she wasn't lying!

I'm sure your request was the compact plus, I'm also sure they will honour your request, as a rule they're pretty good like that.

Unless they're marketing a new meter, some times they like to get the new products out to new first time customers.

I found in the past they will bend over backwards to honour your request, it's big business to them, hope you get what you want. The compact plus, is a lovely machine, I'm sure you'll like it.

Hope you get sorted out soon.
All the best.

Buddy,
I realize now that we had a miscommunication. I had stated that I think they will send you whatever kind of meter you want, but I meant whatever kind of Accu Check. I think you thought I meant whatever brand. LOL That's why I said I hope she wasn't lying to me!
Thanks for you good wishes!

Thank you. I called and talked to a fellow there and they're going to send me the 17-strip-disc model. They're also going to send me their lancet device, the Multiclix, along with 2 lancet drums to try it out. I use a Breeze2 test meter right now that takes a 10-strip disc but I'd like to test drive this 17-strip-disc model. I'm also in the market for ANY lancing device besides this Bayer Microlet2 'whale harpoon'!

Nice people at Accu-Chek.

Yes, they were very nice to me too. I had searched the internet for someone to give me the meter free, and I decided to just call them. To my surprise, they were more than happy to send me whatever I asked for. I'm not sure, but I think the same lancet device that you asked for will come with mine too.

Almost any meter company will send you any meter you want from them if you ask. The meters aren't where they make money. You just got to ask. I have only been turned down once.

The Compact Plus meter system comes with the Softclix Plus lancing device attached to the side of the meter. You can use it attached to the meter--or you can remove it and use it separate of the meter. I guess that's why they call it the Compact.

The Multiclix lancet device, the one I asked for, is a separate item, sold by itself.

Most companies are great about sending you a meter in a timely manner free of charge. When I ordered my Freestyle Lite, I got it two days later.

The only company that is bad about this is One Touch. It took me literally 3 months to get the meter I ordered. It was ridiculous. They also will only give out very specific meters in their line ups. I guess they figure that since they have most insurance companies in their pockets they don't have to offer the customer service of other brands. They have the worst customer service of all the companies (but I do love my UltraSmart).

I hope you like your Compact Plus. That's one I haven't tried. I heard it's rather noisy.

Awesome news Reba!

I had something like that, they sent me the meter free so long as i got the year-long mail-order strips. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the compact plus, I could never figure out how to get the blood into that little slot. (I'd end up just fingerpainting my arm with the blood).

On the up side, The "Softclick plus" pricker is really great as i can barely feel the needle.

Just my $0.02.

Mitch,
I don't have any problem , I just hold the strip up to my palm (which is where I stick) and it sucks it right up! YES, the softclick plus is really nice. I do like it very much!
