    Some good news

Celebrating next to Nicky Taking it with a grain of salt, but I was curious so I used a Bayer A1C test just now.

    Oct 31 (labs at doctor) A1C: 9.2

    Dec 16 (Bayer test) A1C: 6.0

Was bracing myself for a 7+, but this makes me happy regardless of any reliability issues with this particular test. I stopped drinking HFCS sodas, most breads, switched to Dreamfields, and have kept carbs under 80/day with a few exceptions.

That, and the Chargers' win streak have me in a good mood

    Chart idea thanks to JPS

Low carber (< 80g/day) since 11/3/2009. Rid of HFCS, white sugar, white flour, most starchy stuff. Replaced those with whole grain bread in much smaller servings, Dreamfields pasta. 1000mg Metformin, 10mg Simvastatin (for HDL), 81mg Low Dose Aspirin

    Wonderful news.

It's amazing how much impact we have over this condition. Those results hopefully motivate you to step it up even another notch. Trust me, you can do it.

Good work. I think you two have convinced me to go buy one of these. I have another month to wait before getting blood-work results back from the doc.

Excellent job on reducing your A1c. I think you can be reliably sure that the test you took is pretty close to accurate. I took the Bayer A1c home test on Thanksgiving day and then had the "official" one done at my endo's office Tuesday. The Bayer one said I was 5.8 and the one at the endo's office said I was 5.7. Pretty darned close.

Fantastic! Even if the home test is off by a little, you are clearly making great progress. Keep it up!

Huge koodos, what an astounding change in such a short time!

As for the Chargers, I'm worried about their chances with Cinn this week, should be a great game though.

Thanks...my understanding that this is an average, and that I took this 1.5 months after my first A1C, that the last six weeks have been even better than 6.0. Right before I got tested I was abusing soda and food fairly hard.

That's not detracting me from pressing forward, considering the weight loss I've enjoyed. Fit back into 36 waist again. So the next phase is ramping up the exercise now that I feel much better.

Great job! I'll be very interested to see your next triglyceride value. I can see it dropping by more than half.
