Unhappy Lantus and libido/erectile problems (for men only)

I started taking Lantus a year ago and ever since have noticed problems with my libido and am having erectile problems. Has anyone else taking Lantus experienced these problems? It all began right after starting on Lantus.

I've been taking Lantus for about 4 years, since before it became available to the general public, in a clinical trial. During that time, I've aged from my late 40's to my early 50's--a time when many men often can expect changes in sexual function, especially men who have been diabetic for 40 years like I have been. Neither my sexual desire nor function has been affected at all--libido is strong, erectile function same as when I was 18. I do not believe Lantus could possibly have any effect that way--I'd look elsewhere for the causes of your problems.

no probs here with about 20-30 units daily for 2 years...may be unrelated to the insulin itself?

More likely diet/execise/pyschological causes---------

That being said...........................

Never rule out the medicine.

All medicines effect people differently. Some on this board cannot tolerate Lantus---It causes psychological problems for them-----you might be one who is effected.

I'd talk to PCP or Endo about it.
