I took amyril for about a year, until it stopped working for me. It did not cause any stomach upsets or anything. It is one of the sulphur based drugs however.

So my dr switched me to Amaryl (glimepiride) today because I told her I just cant afford the byetta any more. Does anyone know if it typically causes diarrhea or weight gain? What have been your results if you are taking it or have taken it in the past. She also upped my metformin but i take the ER so it doesnt cause me stomach issues.

I take 1 mg of amaryl. No side effects that I've noticed. I started with 3 mg, but we had to reduce it to 1 mg because it caused my blood sugar to go low especially after running (when I went very low and started getting angry, depressed and black moods).
I have the amaryl but haven't taken it. I have just started byetta and agree it is unaffordable !
Mandi , I am doing everything I can to get it free or cheap ! I talked to Amlyn today and because I have mediciaid, I am ineligible for their assistance program BUT they said have your doc call them and they will send out a rep with free samples for you ! I hope that will help you and you go to one of those doctor's offices where they don't mind the pharmaceutical reps - IF you still want the byetta. I have lost 5 pounds this week and have not had any bad side effects. After 6 months on Actos and a gain of 15 pounds, I couldn't be more happy.
