Barb has your doctor done a C Peptide test on you? or is he just guessing that your "body has the insulin but needs a kick start"? A C Peptide test would take the guessing out of that question

I was given a C Peptide test when I was first diagnosed and then a second one 6 months later, there was a big drop in insulin production between the two.
I'm also a type two that didn't do so well on orals, my doctor fiddled around with orals for around 6-8 months with me until I insisted I go on insulin. For me it was an excellent decision and two months ago I went completely off orals and now I'm only on insulin. When I was on orals I literally had to count every bite of food and fruit was totally out of the question (I would jump 10 points eating a small apple). Now I have more freedom when it comes to choosing my food and my control couldn't be better. I also like the fact that if I come down sick with a cold or flu I can treat the high blood sugars immediately.
So if you feel insulin is the route for you to go be firm with your doctor. It's YOUR body and you know what's best for it
