My Doc ISN'T a Dork

In the interests of balance after replying to the My Doc is a dork thread, thought I would start this so we could give credit where it is due.

I would like to nominate the anaethetist who spotted spotted the big D in me with the symptoms I was displaying and got my sugar tested while in Hospital.

I was refered to the specialist by the Doc in my practice who is the diabetic specialist, he had missed the signs completely!

My doctor is most definitely NOT a dork - he is great He always has time to answer my multiples of questions & I feel like I can ask him anything. My husband & I are looking to move house & we may move out of the area we currently live but I hope I won't have to change doctors.

Glad to hear you are Happy , my current Doc is good and gives me plenty of time and we have had several 'Healthy debates' about my treatment.

I am sure the good ones far outweigh the 'Dorks' so let give them credit.....

I really like mine. He is young (around 30, if I had to guess), and hasn't been in the practice long. I was one of his first patients. He knows what he's doing, and since he is younger than most endocrinologists, I don't feel stupid when I ask him questions that a doctor in their 50's might not be able to answer so easily.

That's awesome, for all of you. I'm trying to dedorkify my life at the moment, but they're not making it easy. Hopefully, I'll be as lucky as you all one day!

My advice is start with the Docs then work on the rest!

I am not lucky just getting more on my feet and cooming to terms with the whole diabetic thing.

I love my ENDO. She is the ENDO I have been in search for. I don't think I will ever leave her office unless I have to for one reason or another.

I love my endo and my Diabetes nurse! They are awesome. I also have an excelent orthopedic surgeon and opthomologist. I'd say I love my gp too but I don't see him often enough to have an opinion. lol His office has a rotating door of residents in it and I usually see one of them. One thing I can says is they've been most excelent and recommending specialists! lol

I also LOVE my endo. He takes his time with you, answers any questions you have, really listens to what you say.....and.........his office doesn't overbook so there's NO waiting!

I also like my PCP.........she's the one who dx'd me 3 years ago. However, her office is always running behind. On several occasions I've had to wait almost an hour past my appointment time to be called into the room, only for her to RUSH through my exam.

Talking

I don't have an endo (good ones in my area are few and far between). I see a CDE/NP at my PCP's office. She is the bomb !!!! She always makes time for my endless questions and she has even called me from her home when I was having problems. I have to say that she is better than the one I had before and I thought no one was as good as him. Looks like I was proven wrong. LOL. I'm glad you guys on here pushed me to give her a fair chance.

I have an excellent doc and diabetic nurse. I can't believe that I have found them! I have no intention of leaving even though they are a bit of a drive to get to. I'd travel just about anywhere to have a good health team, around here they're worth their weight in gold!

I love my hospital. When I visit my endo, if for any reason she wants to refer me to another specialist, I can usually get in THE SAME DAY (not like Canada, these days). In February, she referred me to a cardiologist for an EKG and exam and I was still out of the hospital before 1:00.
