Looker for others?

I have been diabetic goin on 14 years and have NEVER met anyone near my age with type 1. If there is anyone in central New Jersey around my age (23)with type one diabetis that would want to talk please respondin this thread. I feel like a 800 lb man tryin to get a date in a chat room by posting this but **** gotta give it a shot, gotta admit it would be nice to eat something and not have people look at me and ask how long I've been using heroin and ask why they IV in movies when I'm skin poppin. (have to admit it is fun when someone u dont know walks in and u have a needle stickin out of ur gut and u say wanna try I have over 200 clean needles cause I just beat up some 80 year old diabetic lady and took her needles and food stamps, thats when I have to hit the floor laughing due to their facial expressions) **** i've always tryed to make the best of something not pleasent and that is funny!!!!

Well, you both should attend events announced by the ADA or
other Diabetes programs promoted by Hospitals, Clinics, Colleges,
Universities, newspapers, bulletins, Walk-a-thons for Diabetes,
your own City, etc., in your areas and I'm pretty certain that each
of you would meet Folks of your own age(unless you live in a ville
of 80, then chances are you would meet no other Diabetics of any
kind).

They're usually weird?

I dunno. It's a good place to make friends with other diabetics. Good place to learn things as well.

Stick it out, maybe you just haven't met anyone there who's your type.

And as far as the original poster goes, are you young enough for a diabetic camp? Give that a thought for next summer. Eventually that can work into a nice summer job when you're older, too.

sorry - I had to giggle at the PUN.

Why don't you go to a matchmaking site, and put somewhere on your profile that you are interested in meeting other diabetics??? see what happens. at the worst case scenario - you meet a bunch of people you aren't interested in. in the best case scenerio - you meet someone you are interested in and you ALREADY have something in common as an ice-breaker to talk about.

I did know two people locally that were my age but one moved away in 2001 and I've only seen the other perhaps twice since we finished high school.

I'm not type 1 but my friend's daughter went to a diabetes camp in northern NJ last year and some of the counselors were type 1s and they are around your age. I can find out more info about the camp if you like.

A few of my customers are diabetics. Nice when you can bum a glucose tab because you left the tube in the car.

Only one of them is type 1. I've only met the guy once or twice. He showed me his Animas right before I switched from my ancient MM507. Seemed like a cool guy. I kinda wish I'd tried a little harder to make friends with him. Maybe the system will break down next week or something.
