stressed out advice please!!

Hello everyone

Last week I had a gtt done and a few other tests... I went in this morning for the results the doc came in with a smirk on his face I wish I could have wiped off... that’s besides the point anyway my fasting sugar was 5.4 and 2 hours after the drink my sugar was 5.4 again. Just before I went in for the final blood work I checked with my own machine (the machine is a month old) it was 9.2 and on my way home my sugar was 7.3.... I am thinking that they tested the same tube twice seeing as the levels are both the same... when I mentioned that that result isn't even possible he laughed at me and said you went to a government run lab are you telling me they are making mistakes.... the girl that was doing my testing left half way through the girl that took over said she has no idea what tests were done so far... that’s probably where the mistake came in.... I ended up standing up telling him I want one of those walking sugar tests and as I was on my way out he said "where are you going to get one of those" I told him wherever he orders them from.... he said he doesn't and that he'd look into it... I have a feeling I’ll be waiting until the cows come home for that one.... he also proceeded to tell me that he doesn’t care what any sugar machine says if its not a lab he doesn't want to hear about it... he said my machines probably no good anyways....
So basically I’d like to know about this walking sugar test... I don't know much about it ive heard that it takes your sugar every 3 mins.... where can I get one and how does it work...
I’m exhausted and don't know what my other options are....
Thanks for listening and for any responses.

Are you trying to get a diagnosis of diabetes? Do you feel you are diabetic and the doctor is missing the call?

diabetes runs in the family... and there is something wrong with my sugars thats all.... they run between 7 - 10 most of the day and night ..... my diet is very boring due to allergies so i don't think there is any reasons for these levels... i basically just need info about the walking sugar test ...

Docs keeping costs down. There might be something he sees but isnt telling you, something not life threatining. Its a way of keeping costs down, insurance companys pay doctors to "miss" non life threatining things. Just a theory!

that's 180 mg/dl in the US, and that's worth a diagnosis! never heard of a walking sugar test.

If you have doubts about that test, I would strongly consider going to another doctor and having another test- even if it cost you money. I strongly believe you have to go with your gut instincts. If something tells you that something isn't right, most likely there isn't.

Good luck.

Chromium dispositions and thyroid problems can cause the symptoms of diabeties, when I was diagnosed I didn't have my blood tested as all the test reveals is the presence of sugar in the blood, not that I'd be diabetic. The best thing to do is go to a hospital and have a BLOOD CHECK, they'll check it for more than one variable and give you a definite result.
