Exclamation HELP! My diabetic friend's forcing me on this site. She thinks I'm diabetic!

Okay, like I said, she forced me! But anyways, she just moved away today (sniff. My OJDBFFL), and a few weeks ago she was like, "OMJ! Megan. I think your diabetic, 'cause you have the symptoms I had." Whimper, whimper. I can't tell my parents, they'll think it's my imagination. I don't know how or where to test myself. Any advice?

What are your symptoms.

Also have your friend test your blood sugar after you eat a big meal (like 2 hours later) if its high you are in trouble. She should have been able to tell you all of this.

Also I hope your not just some nick jonas fan that thinks this it would be cool to be like him. Because its not it can take everything away from you. (Im not a fan.)

Also if your parents wont take you to get tested go anyway. And then report them for child abuse. This whole story sounds made up but if it isn't you need to get help.

So sorry your BF had to move away. I know you will miss her.

Here are a few ways you might get some strips to test your Blood Glucose Level (sugar). If you have another friend or relative that is diabetic, they might give you and old meter and a few strips.
If you get an allowance you can buy a meter at Walmart for about $9.00 but stirps will cost you about $22.00 for 50.
You can check out some of the post on this forum to find web sites that are giving away free meters with 10 strips. If that does not work google one touch gold free meters, bayer free meters, etc
If you are still in school, you might want to check with the school nurse. She may have a way to check for you or have other suggestions.
Is there a free clinic near you.
EMS (Ambulances) Carry equipment with them to check Blood Sugar.
I am a parent and if my child thought he/she was diabetic, I would want to know and I would do everything I could to make sure my child was tested ASAP.
Please keep us posted and let us know what you find out and stay in touch with your BF. BFs are hard to find.

If it is made up go see the other type doc like a physc! But by all means get tested not doing so can shorten your life. If your parents reject you because you are a diabetic, they are not much of parents. Email me and I'll be there as a grandma.

Do you visit your friend? How far away is she?

Have your friend test your blood. Most of us that deal with this disease have our own blood glucouse meter. Test your BG when you wake up or 2hrs after a meal. If you are over 110 at wakeup or over 130 2hrs that's enough to know you have it. Next get a Dr. appointment. If you can't get to your friends Ask your parents to get you a Dr. apoointment.. If you tell them why they would more than likely beleive you. If this goes untreated and you don't control it you can run into trouble.
Your don't want to shorten your life, go blind, loose kidney function, get a nasty infection, or worse?

Does your school nurse have a blood glucose meter? Most schools have hem now. Ask her to test you 2hrs after your
breakfast or lunch

Go to Walmart and get some urinalysis strips. They will be in the pharmacy section. Be sure they check for glucose AND keytones in your urine. If you don't know, or aren't sure, ask the pharmacist working. They're cheaper than buying a meter. When you get home, drink a can of regular coke, and whiz all over the strip an hour later, and again two hours later. If the strip changes colors in a few minutes, you probably have diabetes. If it doesn't, you are probably safe.

Does Nick Jonas have diabetes?

If your friend thinks you might be diabetic, then don't hesitate, go and check! It's better to catch it early than "ignorance is bliss" and end up in hospital if you have diabetes and get diagnosed late.

My friend was diagnosed a few months ago, after i saw her having signs of diabetes. I tested her at home on my meter.

well first off what are the symptoms? why does she think you are? still go get tested anyhow, better safe than sorry. but double check your symptoms. and if you think you are, look up the symptoms see if they match your own and show it to your parents. why would they not beleive you? anyhow do some reasearch, check things up and such. some common symptoms are:
very weak and fatuigued
hugary
lethargic
thirsty
going to the bathroom alot
sometimes throwing up too can be a symptom.

this is just my list off the top of my head
