I guess the main ones on the Australian market are:

NovoPen 4 (Cartridges) *not available in Aus*

NovoPen 3 (Cartridges)

Humapen Luxura (Cartridges) & Humapen Memoir (Cartridges with Memory)

Autopen24 (Cartridges)

Solostar (Prefill Lantus & Apidra)

Flexpen (Novo Nordisk prefill insulins)

KwikPen (Humalog prefill)

These are the ones that i currently know of. Of course there will be more!

Oh awesome thanks, great start, I didn't think I would get a list so soon!

Haha no problems :) In my experience from being around the world congresses and newly developing things with diabetes, there isn't much more than this from what i've seen. I'll see if i can find any more mainstream pens.

I think that will be most of them though, i just recalled the pens people use with all the mainstream insulins and listed them there :)

Glad to help out!

There's also a pen for Humalog called Humalog Ergo. It's a reusable pen... I've never tried it, but i know it exists :T

I'm a fan of Novonordisk hehe

Disposable pens, what is the point in those exactly?

When the cartridge is empty you throw the whole thing away. They are not refillable.

I used to love the "Novopen 3s" but they are now discontinued in the UK as the "Novopen 4s" came out apparently here on the 1st October 2008

I use Novopen4 (with novorapid) and Solostar (with lantus). There are others available from most mfrs i.e Sanofi Aventis, Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Owen Mumford. Most mfrs make both re-usable pens and disposable.

The best pens are the Novopens, by far. They're the only ones made out of metal and they last forever. I have one I still use that I've had since 2004.

The other pen I use is the Autopen, out of necessity because it's the only one that works with Lantus carts. I've got through 3 in the last two years alone and the numbers have rubbed off my current one so I can only dose by counting each click now (Autopens are not covered by my health insurance in the UAE, unlike in the UK).

I have to say that I am not a fan of the "disposable pens" - they are not very eco-friendly!

That is my thinking as well.

Altho everything we as diabetics do, produces alot of waste.

Bad bad diabetics. :D

I never got on with the disposeable pens - I found them to flimsy, and unsubstanial - I even broke a Novorapid FLEXPEN !!

I like the Novopen 3's (soon to be 4's) as the weight is good and they feel like they won't break if you breathe on them !!

After a little hassle (stupid supply probs in our town) I just had the phonecall from chemist to say that Novopen 4s will be in the order tomorrow so can pick them up either this week or next, whenever I am next going to chemist basically I can have my Novopen 4s !!

I had to chase "novonordisk UK" and get the chemist to contact them to sort out the supply issues BUT it worked, we can now get them in our little town at least lol ;)

I just hope they are as good as the Novopen 3's have been for me (wish there were more colours though - I got 2x silver and 2x blue coming) as I need to tell my insulins apart by the pen colour ;)

Will report back when I got them and tested them :D
