Fiber One a good choice?

Is Fiber One a good choice for a low carb cereal? The nutrition facts are as follows: Total Carbs:25g Dietary Fiber:14g So can you subtract 14g from 25g and come up with only 11 carb grams per serving? Also what is "Other Carbohydrates 11g"? Thank You.

You can try it It depends on you. Everybody id different Cereal tends to send my BS higher than i usually get

Perhaps Dietary Fiber:14g + Other Carbohydrates 11g = Total Carbs:25g?

 

I subtract 1/2 the dietary fiber, so I'd read this label as 18 grams total carbs. Don't forget to add the milk!

 

The only way you can know if it's a good choice for you is to eat it and then test. 2 hours PP at a minimum. Add 1 Hr PP to learn more. I couldn't eat this for breakfast, maybe you can.

Why don't you eat half the portion to start & see how you do.

I had Special K Protein cereal this morning, 9 carbs, & 2% milk mixed/diluted with water, added some almonds.

D is trial & error, & test. good luck.

A lot of companies use the "net carb" approach now. They deduct the fiber from the carbs and then promote that "net" carb figure. Generally, that doesn't work for me. There is a tortilla with 6 net carbs on the market that I can tolerate for lunch. So, give the cereal a try and see how your monitor responds. (remember to count the milk!)

 

It works for some, not for others. Hope it works for you!

If you used heavy cream and dilute it you would have less carbs like 0 :D

I have been eating this cereal for some time. However, instead of using milk, I use an 11oz container of EAS soy protien drink (1 net carb). The cereal combined with the drink is only 160 calories and 15 net carbs. it also fills me up and gives me a lot of fiber.

 

I know some people would have an issue with that many carbs. However, when I tried this cereal out, I made sure I tested a lot to make sure it was ok for me. My BS is usually under 100 before eating this cereal and will only rise a couple of pts 1 hour postmeal and then will fall back into the 80s after 2 hours.

 

The 1/2c serving combined with the protien drink works for me. I do eat most of my carbs at breakfast but like I said this is what works for me.

 

I would try the 1/2c serving size and if that doesn't work scale it down until you find something that works.

Well for 3 days now I have had a bowl with soy milk and my numbers have stayed steady. And the fiber DOES do it's job.

As a type 1 pumper, I do not do well with Fiber One products, especially the cereal. I NEVER subtract fiber when I'm counting carbohydrates, no matter how high the fiber count is. It just doesn't work for me.

 

For those of you that have a Super Walmart in your area, they sell Hood Calorie Countdown Milk. Each 8oz glass contains 3g of carbohydrates. No need to water down the milk you're now using.
