I have read that Metformin can also reduce bad cholesterol levels. Has anyone experienced this?

Didn't work for me - I also have to take a statin, which works extremely well and my cholesterol having been in the danger zone is now normal.

Never heard of a direct link. Now keeping your bg's down also lowers your insulin levels and according to some that will help lower lipids.

Hmmm..good question. My cholesterol was a little high (215) when I was diagnosed last month and I'm on Metformin and Lipitor (10mg). It will be interesting to see how it affects cholesterol levels. I haven't heard that Metformin reduces cholesterol, but it would be good to know. :dontknow: :elefant: :hmmmm2: :wavey:
