You poor thing, that is just horrible. I really feel for you. You are obviously a strong person so just hang in there.

Hey, Teresa.

Sounds like you are doing ok, but I'm sure you'd be better if this whole thing was in the past. I know we all are hoping this will be over for you soon and look forward to hearing good news from you that the needle is out.

Hang in there! :)

I want an update too - I can't believe you've still got that needle in you. Do you know if the surgeon has spoken to your diabetes doctor? Have you had any more thoughts about contacting the media? I'd love to see your story in my daily paper (the Mail LOL), I can go around telling everyone that I know you

LOL!!

we had a car crash and my hamster escaped! The car was written off (dad rolled it on ice!) and we were all taken to hospital (not badly injured altho Becki, my sister, did fall out the window and cut her head open - prob. explains alot! hahaha)...

the car was taken to a garage who was take the car to the car scrap yard... but the garage owner found the hammie (called Silky) in the dash board fast asleep... dont know how but the press found out so when we got the hamster back the photo guy from The News of the World came to take our picture with my hammie!! hehehe

the diabetic nurse reckons she has read some medical journal about it and that also advises leaving it in there as it will form a hard shall around itself and not be a problem... and they still aint heard back from the surgoen after the diabetes consultant wrote him... she is gonna chase it up...

ive changed my Lantus pen tho, now im having Lantus cartridges to go in an Autopen 24... thats so i dont have to use the make of needles i previously used as i dont trust them now!!

I saw my endo yesterday and I mentioned your case to her as I think about the needle breaking off in me every time I inject. She said that it would be a very simple operation and could not understand what the problem would be and that it is terrible that no one will do anything. She also said that she has never heard of a needle breaking off before.

I've worried about this a few times, cos the needles for the dispoable lantus pens have bent a few times comming out of me. The main problem Fiona is that if you want treatment on the 'NHS envy of the world' you need to hold a gun to the doctors head in this rubbish country! That's better news that the nurse thinks it is not doing you any harm though!

Lorna... are u using the white aventis optiset lantus pen that ya throw away when empty? with the penfine needles?? its a penfine needle i have stuck in me!

I have swapped to an Autopen 24 now which uses the novofine needles instead... plus its a cartridge pen so has less waste!

Yea, those are the ones- I think I might ask to get changed to the cartridge pen though, cos the disposable one is really wasteful- I only started using it in the forst place cos at the time I changed onto lantus it was not available in cartrige pens.

... I was wondering how you were doing Teresa while I was away. I thought I'd get back and the needle would have been taken out. Ack! You still have it................................................ Do you feel any pain? I hope you don't at least! What a story. Amazing. Are you happy with the way your health care team is taking care of this matter? I'm a bit discouraged for you. I do hope everything is fine nonetheless for you. So much worries for you! Take good care now,

Marie

I find it absolutely incredible that they're just going to leave it in you. I would encourage you to tell the media, but I understand that you have to do what you are comfortable with.

I just really hope it doesn't cause problems later on for you.
