Hi. i am new on here but just a little scared and down. My husband and i had problems getting pregnant the first time around...we finally became pregnant. i was very sick during the firt pregnancy so it has taken me now 4 years to have another one. i am 35 so that bothers me a little bit but I am about 5 weeks along. I am excited but yet scared. I put on so much weight the last 4 years and just disappointed that i didn't get to losing weight. not sure what happened. I know i could be healthier if i had lost the weight. sorry for rambling..ps. i have been type 1 for 28 years. pumped for 3 now!

the second thing is i worry about my kidneys. not sure why but i remember after i had my first child my kidney count was high but then improved after i had gone on meds. anyone else know what i am talking about with this.

Congrats! I too am pregnant- 12 weeks, I am 36, very overweight, a type 2 also with hypertension and I miscarried 4 years ago. This time around, despite my age, diabetes and obesity, my baby is doing great. I had severe morning sickness but have had really tight control with my glucose levels (they want fasting under 95 and 1 hour PP under 120) and 95 percent of the time I am within those parameters. I'm not knowledgable about the differences between a Type 1 and Type 2 pregnancy, but just wanted to offer some support as our situations are somewhat similar. I do know that a positive attitude goes a long way and your mind set can have positive or negative effects on your well being. I'm sure you know you will be monitored very closely- I typically have at least 1-2 OB or some type of specialist appointment weekly. The nice thing is that my OB ultrasounds me everytime I see her, so I get the added benefit of getting to see my baby frequently, which helps alleviate any anxiety when I see the heartbeat and am told that the baby looks great. Best of luck and congratulations!
