Dr Still Think I'm type 2?

Just got back from Doctor's office, and he had no clue what the GAD-65 antibody was. I couldn't believe it, and then he referred me over to a specialist (Endocrinologist). So I couldn't believe I knew more about my condition than he does. I am discounting his advice about me being T2 since he didn't understand the results of my test. Until I get confirmation otherwise I'm considered a type 1.5 (I read a good article which described me exactly). We'll see what the endo says...I'll see her at the end of the month!

GOOD! My internist is in his 50's, generally quite "up" on things, he caved after several appts where I wheedled and pleaded and BEGGED for GAD-65 testing, and had no clue what it meant but then referred me on to an Endo.

Bad news is, FIRST Endo decided I was T2 with antibodies ... after 6 mos I DEMANDED to switch to her partner ... he declared me a Type 1 and suddenly I had insulin, and more test strips than I can use!!! And before that, NOBODY was paying attention to how littel carb I was eating, to get those numbers they thought were so terrific. Scope out the endo you were referred to, if you can!!! (BTW, the one who called me Type 2 w/ antibodies was YOUNGER than the one who called me Type 1!!!

Yes, I heard my Dr. was a qack! He's in his late 60s almost 70s. He was amazed at my level of control 100-150 in the last few weeks. Thanks to you guys for education and support.
