Average BG and corresponding A1C

Recommended Posts

So it just occurred to me after weeks of trying to get my A1C to under 6 and still hovering around 6.3% that maybe there could be something else going on here. For the last 2 months, my average sugar has been around 6.8 mmol/L. Right now it is 6.4 mmol/L (both including 1 and 2 hour post meal readings)- the standard deviation is around 2.8 mmol/L so not much swing. Based on the online calculators, it seems that my A1C should be around 5.9% not 6.3% which is what the lab work says.

My question is: could my hypothyroid issues be influencing my A1C results?

I'm not too worried, but rather curious as to why my A1C hasn't come down considering my sugars.
