Yes, please discuss the beta blocker with your cardiologist first before deciding on stopping it. I'm on Toprol and I know you can't just stop it cold turkey.

I wouldn't drop the beta blocker since it far more helpful for a diabetic than the calcium channel blocker.  Again you are replacing a BP med that is less helpful with one that is more helpful.  ACE inhibitor or ARB reduce a stress hormone diabetics have too much of.  That hormone is a major player in all our complications.  That hormone Angiotensin is the A in both drugs.
