I have a hard time driving at night now. The glare from on coming headlights really blinds me. I feel like I need night vision shades.

Kit, my husband's cataracts were so bad, they took away his driver's license until he had surgery.  He just wouldn't go to an eye doctor, because, well, he's a bit stubborn and cheap.  So taking away the license got his attention, he was legally blind.  After the surgeries, one eye at a time, he was 20/20.  It does work.

That being said, the lense on one of them is coming off and will need a small laser repair.  After 3 years now, he does need mild readers, but got his license back after the first eye was fixed.

When I was much younger, I had basically perfect vision (could easily read bottom line of eye charts, etc).  Now I need a lighted magnifying glass to read serial numbers off equipment so I can assign asset numbers.

Getting older really sucks.

What really sucks is that I'm the only one to really suffer of my siblings.  Brother #1 had cataract surgery, but his were caused by his other eye surgeries.  Brother #2 has no sign of them and only has to deal with the dreaded arms not long enough syndrome.  ;)

I somehow went from wonderful eyes to an astigmatism and beginnings of cataracts.  *sigh*  Though part of me kind of hopes that the astigmatism is actually caused by the cataracts and once I do the surgery, I will see significantr improvement.  If that could be a garantee, I'd be scheduling the surgery now.  :D

My cataracts aren't bad enough for surgery yet. I known hey are affecting my vision. I cannot drive at night anymore because of the glare and whenI enter an wrk room it takes awhile for my eyes to focus. I have eye floaters from a posterior vitreous detachment. My dad lost his sight totally in his 70's which scares me. he went to bed one nights it's a headache and woke up blind. So now I think every eye symptom will lead to blindness. It is scary.

I've been going to my eye doctor for the last 15 years for eyes to be checked for any problems related to diabetes and glad I have done it. Doctor found my left eye needing laser and shots before it got real bad like going blind without me nothing it.

I liked how my new eye doctor looks and takes pics of my retina.  reminds me I have glaucoma in my future.

Are we to surmise it is the same condition as the original poster??? Will no one be able to give it a name, or a clue, of which we can be aware? I have an odd "X" on the inside corner of the white on BOTH of my eyes. It is in the exact place on each eye. It certainly seems to 'mark a spot' to me. However the eye Doctor who did my cataracts did not find it remarkable. I do not trust her, however, since a Doctor in her practice ruined my husband's left eye with cataract surgery. I need to find a new Doctor but need to know if I need a specialist. Can you give me a hint. please?
