Carnitine for diabetes

Recommended Posts

I've found that I have Carnitine deficiency. Maybe it's systemic primary carnitine deficiency due to a genetic factor. I have low levels of Total Carnitine and Free Carnitine which are below the normal range, but Acylcarnitine levels is within the normal range.

I've been taking around 6000-8000mg Acetyl-L-Carnitine supplement daily in divided doses for about 1 month and noticed a dramatic reduction in my insulin requirements. Studies in diabetes patients shows promising results, for example:

Carnitine is also critically important to prevent symptoms of heart disease (cardiomyopathy).
