FRUITS??

Recommended Posts

Posted this on another forum, but no answers yet. I don't see anywhere fruits are listed as "allowable" for a diabetic or pre-diabetic?

Could someone list them for me? Thank you..🙂

Fruit contains fructose which is a simple sugar.  These are easily converted to glucose.  Eating fruit is much like eating sugar for many of us.  Some berries in small portions can work (blackberries, raspberries, strawberries).  Blueberries have a little more fructose in them.  Other fruits are really "You mileage may Vary" and testing after eating would best determine how fruit would fit into your management plan.

Agreed with @meyery2k above.  Fruit can contain a lot of sugar and I have to severely limit my consumption to a few berries here and there, usually when they are in season and at their best.

But, like anything else, test yourself and see how you are reacting.  That will give you the most accurate feedback on what you can and cannot tolerate.

Yes, I agree with what the others have said, plus, you can add avocados to the list of fruits that don't spike your glucose levels that much.
