The Diabetes Code by Jason Fung

Interesting book, written in 2018.  It gives you another perspective on Diabetes, whether you agree or disagree.  I found it interesting and he explaines the reasons behind his beliefs.

Chapter 1: How Type 2 diabetes became an epidemic

Chapter 2: The Differences between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes

Chapter 3: Whole Body Effect

Chapter 4: Diabetes: The Calories Deception

Chapter 5: The Role of insulin in Energy Storage

Chapter 6: Insulin Resistance: The Overflow Phenomenon

Chapter 7: Diabetes, a disease of Dual effects

Chapter 8: The Fructose-Insulin Resistance Connection

Chapter 9: The Metabolic Syndrome Connection

Chapter 10 – Insulin; Not the answer for Type 2 diabetes

Chapter 11: Oral Hypoglycemic: Not the Answer

Chapter 12: Low Calorie Diets and Exercise: Not the answer

Chapter 13 – Lessons from Bariatric Surgery

Chapter 14 – Carbohydrate-reduced Diets

Chapter 15 – Intermittent Fasting

CONCLUSION

If everyone followed Dr. Fung’s advice, 95% of Type 2 diabetes would be cured.  We are convinced of that. How long it takes to reverse diabetes type 2 diabetes is the only conundrum. It could take as little as three months on a LCHF diet combined with intermittent fasting and maybe longer for someone who has been a Type 2 diabetic for twenty years or so. The time period for recovery apparently depends on each patient but definitely achievable.

If that's his conclusion The book is not worthwhile reading. DIABETES CAN NOT BE CURED. If it were cured then a person could eat anything after eating LCHF brought their blood glucose to the normal range but it's not so. A normal diet would send their blood glucose higher again.

Hopefully some day here will be a cure but it will not be by changing your diet

A "must a read" book? Really? Oh, I see, Cinnamon Vogue hawks that "cinnamon" cure from Sri Lanka. Probably a Google Translate.

Nevermind! <_<

I enjoy reading Dr. Fung's stuff on his website, but have one question unanswered. Perhaps someone who's read the book can answer: If my highest readings occur in the morning following an overnight fast and drop following a low carb breakfast; how can fasting more or longer be a good thing?
