Know what is being taught in colleges here...

Okay, so I do not want to discuss anything political, since that could possibly generate a lot of controversy here.  I just wanted to inform people as to how the US can be destroyed from within by other countries that we are enemies with, so I thought that I'd post a link to show what I mean.  Here is that link.  Keep in mind that, while this is what's happening here in the US, it's most likely happening in your country also.

How do you know this is true? This info is only from someone's blog and the info could be slanted to read whatever they want it to be. Frankly I can't see any government donating that amount of money to American schools. Even if they did they have no control over curriculum. I think they are taking tuition from foreign students and weaving it into this story to get Americans riled up. Don't just take for fact anything just because it's on the internet

China has a poor education system as have many other countries. To give their children a better chance at life many who can afford it send their Children to North American schools of higher learning. There were 5000 students from China studying in the USA last year. Each student paid $35,000 dollars in tuition for the year. You multiply $35,000 by 5000 and you get 175 million.. As a matter of fact India has surpassed China in the number of foreign students. Canada always gets their share of foreign students too and no one is suggesting that they control our universities. In fact our government would be all over them if they did because they are partly funded by them. These kids come here for a better education than they could get at home. End of story!!

Dowling, a simple Google search would have shown you that this is true.  https://www.npr.org/2020/02/13/805548681/harvard-yale-targets-of-education-department-probe-into-foreign-donations  Maybe try that before you condemn what I posted?

When a foreign country, like China, donates that much money to a college, they expect that college to teach their students that China is good and not a threat to the US, otherwise, they will cut off the donations to that college.  Not wanting to lose that money, the college will bend to the demands of China.  It's the same old thing...if you can't defeat a country with military force, then use subversive tactics to destroy them from within.

If it is true then it's up to your government and your people to put a stop to it. Maybe it's retaliation for Trump's Tariffs. China is not all to blame. They can only offer and the Colleges can turn it down. Where is your news media and why aren't they reporting the facts to the people? Seems to me that greed and silence is playing a big part here. The USA has to watch a lot of countries because there are those who want to stomp on them and you need a strong Government to do that one that includes all the people. Russia and Iran are 2 more that bear watching.

I've never paid much attention to USA politics until the last couple of years. but now it seems essential that Canadians know what is going on south of our border. What effects the USA also effects Canada. We have always been good friends and best trading partners and we want to see that continue

In 2019 we exported 292,633.0 million worth of goods from Canada to the USA

and imported 319,427.8 million worth of goods from the USA to Canada

While travel for ordinary citizens has been banned between our countries because of Covid 19 the flow of trade between our 2 countries has continued

Dowling, our news media is far leftist, so they won't report anything that benefits Trump.  I don't want to get into politics here, because that is frowned upon here, and I agree with this forum's policies.  Yes, it's up to this government to put a stop to it, but until it's been discovered, they had no way of knowing about it until now.  Trump has placed tariffs on China, because China has constantly devalued their currency, so as to make their products cheaper on the world market.

Americans feel that Canada is a close friend of ours, and we appreciate that.  What you have to know is this...many countries hate America, and because of that, they want to try and destroy America, so my country is constantly battling these other countries, and these other countries are using a number of means to try and destroy us.  I have one question for you....if America were to be destroyed by some foreign power, who would the world depend on to help protect them?...China?...Korea?....countries from the middle east?...yeah, that would ever happen!

My country is based on capitalism....your country is based on Democratic socialism, which is based in capitalism.  While you have socialistic programs, it's all being paid for by capitalism.  I know that you think that your form of government is better that ours, and it might be for your country, it would never work here.  The US has the greatest economy in the world, and the reason that it does, is because of capitalism, not socialism.

The problem that we have here is that, other countries have learned how to influence my country's political views, by bribing politicians....I mean lobbying politicians (the same thing), because of the money that they use to do that.  That is the biggest inherent flaw in politics....pay them enough money, and they will do what you want them to do.

Hammer do you know how many times Canada has had the USA's back or how many times Americans have helped Canada.  Canadians were at the Trade center looking for survivors. Our Diplomats rescued your diplomats when Iran held them hostage. I'm sure there are many more examples that I can't think of right now. Canadians helped when the US East coast had an ice storm that downed many power lines and you reciprocated when Quebec was hit with an ice storm. IT's very common for both sides to do so. Canadians and American firefighters move back and forth across the border to help fight forest fires We have a common link with NORAD to defend the Alaska and our north against Russian aggression. We are linked together in so many ways and that's why I say what happens to the USA effects Canada

So you think that is bad.

George W. Bush allowed the sale of U'S. nuclear technology to China. A Japanese company bought a U.S. company that makes nuclear power plants where I worked. Then the Japanese company instead of making them here they licensed a Chinese company to build them in China not the U.S. Hence I no longer am employed. My job went to China so I was eligible for retraining so I went from managing an electronic test department with 21 technicians to becoming a social worker.

Dowling, that was why I said that Canada is a close friend of the US.  We love Canadians, and their country.

Diana, what happened to your company has been happening all over the US for many years.  Companies have been moving to China for their cheap labor.  One company makes a certain product here, then decides they can have it made cheaper in China, so they move their operations to China.  Once that happens, other companies that were making a similar product, can't compete with the lower prices of the first company, so they either have to also move to China, or go out of business.  As more and more companies did this, more and more people lost their jobs.  In a lot of cases, the quality of those products went down as well, so while we do get a lower price, we also get lower quality.

Trump has removed regulations that hurt our companies, and placed tariffs on Chinese imports, and that has resulted in a number of these companies moving back to the US, which created lots of jobs.  I'm sure that the Chinese government doesn't like these tariffs, but we don't like them purposely devaluing their currency, so as to make their products cheaper, since it gives them an unfair advantage.

I will just like to point out that when the company was sold in 2005 and the technology transfer began the Republicans control the presidency and Congress.

And btw, the company that bought us went 2 billion dollars in the hole.

But didn’t the link state that the Wall Street Journal reported the payments? Also, calling the media as far leftist Is a very political statement.

No, calling the mainstream news media far leftist is a fact, not a political statement.  I watched a CNN video, which showed Bernie Sanders, when he was running for president, walking along Mount Rushmore, saying that it was a beautiful, majestic place, and that it was very inspiring to see.  A few months later, President Trump gave a speech in front of Mount Rushmore, and CNN said that, he was on Native American property, and that two of the four presidents on Mount Rushmore owned slaves and that it was disgusting that he would be there to give a speech.  See the hypocrisy there?....see the leftist bias there?

All you have to do is watch the leftist media, and see how often they bash the president, but NEVER say anything bad about the Democrats.  Look, I don't want to get into a long discussion about politics here, because this forum is NOT the place for discussions of that type.  I enjoy being a member of this forum, and I don't want to get banned for discussing politics.  If there is another forum that you know of that does discuss issues like this, let me know, and I'll be happy to join that forum, but please keep discussions like this out of this forum.

Hammer I don't want to get into politics either but you keep bringing up Trump. Not all media bashes Trump. Fox news is in Trumps pocket. According to them he can do no wrong.

Canadians like Americans but not Trump. He has said many nasty things about us. All of which were untrue. He has put down our Prime Minister and called him names. He put a tariff on Canadian Aluminum and we were baffled. That tariff hurt Americans more than Canadians because the USA doesn't have enough raw aluminum and has to import it. Think of all the products made with Aluminum and you'll see why. It has since been withdrawn. I presume it was because of pressure from Americans and the threat of targeted retaliatory tariffs from Canada

Please let this be the end of this post and let sleeping dogs lay, I don't think you'll change your views and neither will those who have an opposite view. Just let it be...

Yet that is all you do. CNN and Fox are definitely biased; however, I find the major networks to be quite fair in their reporting.
