    Keto

Joe You are new to this site so I'll forgive for not knowing that our low carb high fat diet was copied by whoever started the Keto diet. We on this site were practicing low carb high fat before Keto became fashionable. Dr.Richard K. Bernstein--a type 1 diabetic-- experimented and refined his low carb high fat diet between 1969 and 1970 and considerably lowered his need for insulin. Then he wrote a book called "The Diabetic Solution" It is his research and experimentation that gave us a way to help ourselves and be copied by people who discovered that it could also be a weight loss diet.

    2019 Morning Fasting BG Readings

A 108 (6.0) today. I visited my daughter yesterday, to watch her little boy try out for his next karate belt, which was the last belt in his age section (3-5 years old). He passed, so now he moves up to the next level of classes. After the class, I always take them out to dinner, and they always like to go to a place called Isaac's. Isaac's only has sandwiches, so I had to get a sandwich, and it turned out to be on a thick roll. I didn't have my insulin with me, so I waited till I got home, took a BG test, then took some Novolog. Apparently, I didn't take enough, hence the 108.

7 for me. @IrinaHarr , your boy is stunning. You have every right to be a proud mumma. I also love those jars & can relate to them. I'm even worse then new grandparents when I talk about my boy, just look at my posts in chit-chat. I'll have to be more aware of dog breeds when we visit the leash free parks & hope to see a Cairn. Its great seeing so many breeds that live locally & visit the park to socialize. I love to see the Salukis yet know I could not keep up with them & last week an Airedale puppy came to play..❤️❤️ Kit, I'll cross my fingers for these meds to work for you. Hammer & Ran.. we make a great trio & I hope we get to sing again.

HELP! my brother has no insurance

Have you looked into/applied for Medicare and/or Missouri Medicaid?
  7. My brother retired about a year ago,due to illness. He wasn't given any insurance,no guidance,no assistance, nothing. He is insulin dependant, has coronary artery disease, had a stent put in a few years ago. He just does not feel good at all. At this point he is unable to work. We have been trying to look into getting his insulin and other meds,to no avail. Is there anyone out there that has any solutions. The insulin prices are HORRIBLE,that alone will make you sicker. He has worked his whole life but his health couldn't take it anymore,he had several seizures at work,no one cared,he had to drive himself to the E.R.. He is paying a mortgage and car payments from early SSI,which is not much, but that and food and utilities eats it all up.. Can anyone please help with where to go or who to call? he has enough insulin for about 20 more days.HELP. He takes novolog and lantus.Thank you

    2019 Morning Fasting BG Readings

@IrinaHarr FUZZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 102 this morning. So I had an appointment with my doctor yesterday about my hot flashes which are getting worse. I was over 20 a day, a number of those at night, which meant I was getting at best a couple hours of sleep a night. After a month of this, I haven't been very functional. Did you know if it goes on long enough, sleep deprivation can make you sound like you are drunk? Previous doctors have always pushed SSRIs on me, but many of those gave me hot flashes in my late 20s/early 30s that would not go away until I stopped taking them. So I'm worried that they will make the situation worse instead of better. She put me on 200mg of Gabapentin and I took the first one at around 8:30 last night. It does have a potential of messing with BG levels so I will be keeping a very close eye on things for a while here. And of course I forgot my meter at home today so I won't be able to test again until I get home. I don't know if the 102 was the Gabapentin or just me being a bit sloppy about dinner last night. I was so tired I just grabbed stuff out of the fridge and ate it without even estimating the macros at all. Nothing bad, but quantity may have been higher than it should have been. Still had hot flashes over night. I was, however, able to get back to sleep rather quickly so it may have helped at least some. Doctor said we should know in a couple of weeks if its going to help. I'm willing to give it about a month unless I have any adverse reactions or its obviously not helping at all. Wish me luck. I need sleep so badly.

Widget is a he - "dog" in breeders speak, when its a she they say the "b" word which I will not utter here Nothing is clipped - not ears, not tail, not hair which is double coat with "bristle" that can be only hand pulled (old hairs come off easily). Widget is getting darker, used to be red and now red-brindle (with black bristle). They all change color from puppy to 4 years old.

Irina, Widget is a beauty. I bet she can go like a race car, zoom zoom zoom. Wondering about the other end? tail or stub? She seems to know she is special, as well she should. Very happy for you with the win, I am sure you appreciated it more than she may have. Thanks for the picture.

126 today, working on BG to improve after Easter indulgence. Here is photo from the dog show - Widget got best of breed (#1) among cairn terriers that participated in competition that day; then in terrier group #4 (hence the white rosette) where all kinds of terriers participate (each was #1 in its breed).

For anyone who is looking for a way to lower your numbers without meds...give Keto lifestyle a try. I worked on my numbers for 2 years, doing everything I was told ..BUT..Keto. I finally did it & I gave it 100 % & it gave me low BS numbers. How low..Normal throughout the day, with a little bump in the morning, 101 to 110 , sometimes below 100.. If you have been looking for a way to lower your numbers without meds.. Give it a try & give it 100%... Joe
