7.5 FunDad, it's tough to see an injured animal knowing it's not got a happy ending. I thought a lot of this yesterday while in the park hoping the injured Magpie would appear. It's parents did but not junior . Watching me feed the birds was a woman physically & very mentally disabled in a wheelchair. I think she got pleasure from watching as her loud vocals ceased. Occasionally I see paid carers bring their client to lake & park for an outing. Humans are the only animal I know of that care for the disabled.. or do primates? Irina, thanks for mentioning groundhogs.. I just watched a fun video of a man with a family of groundhogs in his garden. Such cute critters. One can have a lovely experience interacting with wild animals. Yesterday I had a pair of Rainbow Lorikeets at the window in front of the desk. Ive created a gap of about 4inch square so I can pass food out to birds as I sit at the pc. A female rainbow comes through the gap & climbs on the clutter or the monitor & screeches at me if I'm not fast enough to pass meat or an apple slice. She will take it from my hand but I dont touch her to spoil the experience. While she is eating, the male is outside getting aggitated running up & down the window sill muttering away, then he will poke his head through the gap & makes what I assume is demands, as she then takes food out to him & returns indoors to her meal.

164 today. Rabbits moved into our back yard while we were traveling, puppy girl runs and runs trying to find them but they all hopped away now of course 🐇 My flower and veggies bed has grown like a jungle, I found a dozen of cucumbers and 4 were really huge; I am trying out various salting and pickling recipes - know any good ones? Shopped for some groceries yesterday, fridge was empty and squeaky clean when I got home (all groceries were thrown away before we left and refrigerator washed/sanitized). Amazing how much needed to be done after only 7 days away from home, I fell asleep as soon my head touched the pillow last night and saw dreams about car travel

165 today, I am back after falling off the grid due to power outage! This reading is not bad for me after the long tavel like this one (2 days without power plus 7 days travel), I was good and had not a single bite of hotel's waffles for breakfast, not a single french fry in the drive through, not a teaspoon of ice cream with in-laws. Last time I came home after dog show it was 265. I learned my lesson. We left after two hot days in the house, I was right - it took our public power company another 4 days to restore power because so many trees and large tree limbs fell on the power lines. Dog show in Duluth, MN was great (Widget took Best of Breed in cairn terriers for 3 days in a row) and we took a stroll in the harbor, watched giant barge go through: https://www.duluthharborcam.com/p/canal-park-cams.html Stayed with in-laws in Wisconsin, about 55 min drive to the show. Man, talk about living in the woods, they just got Direct TV dish 3 days ago and decent Wi-Fi in the house for internet access. I had to walk pups like 5 times a day and keep them in their travel crates in the room with door shut - large yard there ends in drop-offs on both sides and woods. If our puppy girl would have got loose I would never see here again. Ground hogs, porcupine every night on the door step chewing on the stairs, big bull snake living under large shed - they like it, snake eats all mice better than cats. Amazingly, my garden thrived, two large rains came through our area when we were away. My first morning home today, all appliances work, good coffee and breakfast, feeling like queen coming back from exile

Hammer this has been going on too long.. circle patches..... I reckon you have a witch's coven in your neighbourhood. Dont tolerate it.. they will kill your lawn. They dress up like the video but on a dark summers night you could have 50 naked witches dancing on your grass. Tell them to bugger off or you( might )call the police

116 @IrinaHarr - I know you can't predict thunderstorms but I learned my lesson years ago here in FL. When there's a hurricane coming and I think we may lose power for a day or two, I make a gallon jug of coffee ahead of time. It may be room temperature, but at least I have coffee! Lol.

94 today. Set up a trainer so I can least get back into cycling even though it is stationary. The trainer is much more challenging physically than the road.

7.2 Stressed knowing I have blood work done today. It's like payback day as Ive even been eating apple when Ive been peeling them for the lorikeets. What a great day it would be Diana to watch the sun rise & set over water. I enjoyed being on the furthest east spot where the sun first touched Australia at Byron Bay . In Winter it was further around at Ocean Shores where I spent holidays. There was a definite spot where it first touched. The aboriginal week poster: "The 2021 National NAIDOC Poster, ‘Care for Country’ was designed by Gubbi Gubbi artist Maggie-Jean Douglas. Using the 2021 NAIDOC Week theme, Heal Country!, as inspiration; ‘Care for Country’ is a bright and vibrant artwork which explores how Country has cared for and healed First Nations people spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially and culturally. The artwork includes communities, people, animals and bush medicines spread over different landscapes of red dirt, green grass, bush land and coastal areas to tell the story of the many ways Country can and has healed us throughout our lives and journeys.........." gamilaraay woman on awabakal land is me announcing my right to use that poster. so @janice21475 there'll be no jigsaws of this woman Theres a lot of aboriginal art in jigsaws..click ' explore' type aboriginal in the search

I am leaving the picture because it is too beautiful to remove. You are blessed to have the perfect conditions to allow your plant to produce such a large crop of blossoms. Wish I could capture the scent from the picture. I would truly be sitting next to that beauty all day through. Thank you for sharing. Very glad you were able to get the new meter and other equipment. I am delighted it has been such a help. God bless you.

99 today. This sunset photo was taken in Wyoming. It doesn't get dark until after 930PM. Even taking Daylight Savings into account that is still impressive since it is getting dark around 715PM here. My camera is still on Hawaii time. Local time was 855PM.

156 this morning, again after 4am line on the blood glucose graph went up. Al least this mystery solved thanks to Libre, i.e. my BG is around 135-140 then goes up in the morning right before I wake up. FunDad - how does 50 on Libre compares to test strips result? I am wondering about similar data only mine are highs not lows and I have 20 points difference with strips.

94 Again last night. 3 am and I was at 50. I just don't get why this all the sudden started happening. Harper the wonder-puppy showed her first watch-dog instincts last night. She loves my daughter and usually stays in my bed until my daughter gets home at 11:00 or so, then jumps down and goes to see her. Last night she was impatient and went and laid by her bedroom door. I opened the door and showed her my daughter wasn't home yet, then she laid down near the front door of the house just waiting. When my daughter came home and put her key in the lock, Harper barked immediately. Now I'll feel a little better whenever I leave to go see my mom for a few days. Good home protection.

89 this morning Adventure would be an understatement... The Blue Heeler, Kleo, is an interesting story. Kala's ex adopted her from the shelter. She is 13 y/o now. She had some behavioral problems in the beginning. Nick would not train her thinking she needed to be left to her own devices. Kala took over and in dog person fashion has transformed her into a wonderful companion. Kleo needed a firm hand and discipline administered with kindness to thrive. She now sits on command, comes when called, and herds her humans. While this is not usually remarkable, she did none of these things when adopted 5 years ago. Gail is apprehensive around dogs. She and Kleo started on the right foot right away which is a testament to both. The fun thing with Kleo is she thinks she is a little dog like Charlie (the other dog in the photo) and will try to get on your lap with predictable results.
