    2020 Morning FBG readings

64 This morning. I started Whole30 on Thursday. Last night I decided I'd lower my lantus by 2 units because my daytime numbers had been lower than normal and I was 80 at bedtime. Glad I lowered it. Now, today, my Libre says that I haven't been over 100 since yesterday at 3:00 PM when I was slightly over 100 after lunch. Thinking I'll probably lower Lantus a bit again tonight. Maybe just one 1 unit.

98 today. 18,849 km (11,712 miles) cycled last year. At 25 mpg, that is roughly 468.5 gallons of gas I didn't have to buy. Came damned close to that 12,000 mile goal in spite of illness.

132 at 4am this morning - was fasting 20 hrs / no meds yesterday, broke fast last night with lattice topped 1/2 cup with taco beef (low carb). Better BG than most of my days for like a month. Trying out intermittent fasting routine, hope to rake some health benefits along with walking the dog more often. It is going to be mild 45F today

98 today. Started New Years with a ride on the new county road. I had planned to do this the weekend before it officially opened so I could be a scofflaw but the seizures in November crimped that plan. There are hot spots from lava still cooling beneath the road. You will see a spot where the air is shimmering above the road and the air temp is markedly warmer. Not hot enough to melt the asphalt but still an interesting phenomenon to observe. Rode back through the rain forest. This road is called Beach Road and it used to be a rough gravel ride. The county paved it so people could evacuate if needed and services could be more easily provided. The long awaited goose was cooked and consumed. It turned out really good.

Merry Holidays !!! 7.2 & I still intend on having a croissant with smoked salmon & cream cheese. Went to bed last night just as the radio was discussing how to cook a goose. First she said was they dont have much meat on them and they have big bones. Pffft.. thinks I.. even poor geese stick to the story that theyre not fat, just big boned . Then I fell asleep even before the oven temp was declared. Mike, your goose doesnt look big boned.

137 Fell asleep without taking my evening meds. For defrosting....my mom would soak a frozen bird in cold water and change the water every 30 minutes or so. Nowadays she would just take it out and leave it on the kitchen counter for hours until it thawed. At 85, she's not real concerned about bacteria from food. Her answer is "I've always done it like that and I'm still here."

    2019 Morning Fasting BG Readings

89 today. Great weekend. To my delighted surprise, the manufacturer sent me a replacement wheel for the one that bent. I am "that guy" at the bike shop and with the manufacturer (3rd wheel in one year). Bella and I mounted the tube and tire Saturday afternoon with no incident. It was, however, too rainy to ride. Sunday started with rain. Around 2PM it cleared up enough to ride. I wanted to try out my new wheel but instinct told me to take Fiare (the bike with panniers) out. I did and found to my delight when I stopped by the grocery store that they had goose! I had been pestering them all month and was finally told it probably wouldn't happen. Lo and behold, though, there were 2 geese for sale. I bought one and managed to fit that into the pannier along with all the other stuff I bought at other stores. The goose alone was 10 pounds and I had bought an assortment of canned and jarred items so I was a little wobbly at first with all the extra weight. I have learned the not so hard way to balance a load across the racks when possible. One of those times I actually listened to someone lol... It is frozen and I don't think it would thaw in time for Christmas but there is always New Years Even though she is an older bike and showing dings and age, Fiare is still a great bike and I can see plenty of adventure left in her.
