    2020 Morning FBG readings

136 Went up to get blood work done this morning which is located inside of Walmart. Decided to walk around the store and get a few things after. They actually had toilet paper (about a dozen packs left). Meats had been re-stocked so I got some of that. I keep hearing eggs are on shortage but they had plenty as did a few other stores I went to this week. Here's the funny thing. The line to wait for a self checkout register (there are about 15 of them) was 20 people deep. So I figure I'll take a chance and walk clear across the store to the garden center. I was the only one there checking out. People are lazy.

96 today. WE are now seeing the first of what they call the community spread cases in Honolulu. Still working. Have a couple field calls in Kona.

113 today. Things have hardly changed for me. I'm accustomed to staying around the house to tend to the wife anyway. The only change is the impact of hoarders on the availability of goods. That will pass as will the virus.

131 Day 12: It has been twelve days in self-isolation, except for grocery shopping, a walk in the park and a friend stopping by I have been in isolation… I read a couple of books, listen to a book, watched YouTube videos, listen to “Old Time Radio” shows, I’m on Facebook too much, and I talked to friends on the phone or using FaceTime. For an introvert it is heaven.

134 today. I nipped to the garden center early morning to get compost bags and mulch. I mostly do yard work these days, when weather is cooperating

123 I'm not too concerned about the economy. It always recovers. I don't look at my 401k during times like this. And while I know any job is vulnerable, I work in an industry that is fairly recession proof. I'm an optimist. Stay safe everyone.

95 Our California office is affected by the shut downs. We're wondering if the same will be happening here. Only 5 of us here yesterday and so far I'm the only one here today.

100 Woke up at 1:30 am and felt low. Tested at 45. Drank a small soda and ate a chocolate cake thingy. By the time I got back to my bed I was sweaty, shaky and just collapsed on to it. No clue why it happened. I stopped at Walmart yesterday after work, mostly out of curiosity. All of the sandwich meat was gone. All chicken, pork....gone. Of course no TP or hand sanitizer. Oddly the juice isle was pretty empty too. The funny thing to me is there were plenty of fruits and vegetables. People buy the unhealthy stuff first. @adiantum - Interesting article. Thanks. We do have a WFH policy but it's being done pretty informally here. My home is safe and I have no concerns about that. And my company would stand behind me if anything happened. There's only been 5 cases here in the city where I work and only 1 in the county I live in. And that one person wasn't even in my county when they tested positive. That's out of 142 for the entire state, the bulk of which are 500 miles from here in the Miami area.

I stocked up on strips early Summer & am glad I did now. I pay 60c instead of $34 but have to get a doctors referral every 6 months for them. I still have enough to last about 4 months, so I wont be visiting any doctor soon. Budgeting is the new game to play. Ive not been so wasteful with toilet paper & instead of boiling 3 eggs for breakfast I cut it back to 2. I dont want to shop in store.

6.7 Ive been feeling smug because I shop online & dont have to get involved with the public brawls over toilet paper... i can just have it delivered to my door when I need it. Well thats what Ive been thinking but now the stores have changed the rules of the game. Theyve stopped online shopping because the demand increased beyond their capabilities. Theyve identified the first hour of trading to the aged & disabled, so maybe I can sneak in with them. @FunDad62, are you legally covered when working from home? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-16/coronavirus-working-from-home-legal-liability-employment-law/12056942

A bit of a rant. Someone posted (inevitably) the Mr. Rogers meme about looking for helpers. I had a "Larry David" moment (Curb Your Enthusiasm) because this was written for pre-schoolers to help them cope with the understandably frightening concepts they would encounter overhearing the news or people talking. I wrote my own response and posted this. It really resonated strongly. We are adults. We have understanding that children don't. We can take action. IF there weren't "helpers", this site wouldn't even exist. I applaud you all... Whenever "scary" things happen in the world, the meme of Mr. Rogers quoting "look for the helpers" is brought out to comfort us. If we all went out and acted as helpers, no one would need to look for them. Did your neighbor comment about not having soap or TP? Do you have some? Give them some. If someone you know is anxious about current events, take a little time to actively listen to them and console them as best you can. Be an unlooked for helper. EVERYONE can be a helper.
